Vin Scully did not repeat, did not take the opportunity of receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting on Tuesday from Fordham Universitys WFUV Radio, where he got his start as a sportscaster in 1947, to announce his retirement as the voice of the Dodgers...

Hands down the best. I am moving back to SoCal later this summer and the dial for the Dodger home games will be set on Vin.

Remarkable career and a remarkable story. Vin is among the best. I’m amazed he is still broadcasting and still at the top of his game.

What baseball sounds likeIt doesn't hurt that I've been a Dodgers fan since they were in Brooklyn, but I've got to agree 100%. The best way to really enjoy a game is over the radio listening to Vin.

Jon Miller’s one of the all-time best and a lot of fun, especially when he broadcasts his home (Bay Area) games. His weekly ESPN gig is alongside the often-overly-dramatic Joe Morgan, so it’s somewhat less fun.

Vin Scully is the greatest of all time. I used to spend my summers in the middle of the Arizona desert listening to him and Jerry Doggett on KFI, when it was a clear channel.
He hosted a game show on NBC back in 1970. It was called “It takes Two.” Back then he wasn't a legend quite yet.
I met him three times and still have his autograph. He and the late Chick Hearn of the Lakers tower above anyone else.

Joe Morgan's prolly a good guy in real life, but goodlord does he have to repeat most every point he tries to make >14 times ???
And in unrelated carping: I hope the suits that got baseball off the radio choke to death on the dollars

I started listening to him announce Dodger games over KFI in 1960.

Jon is good and very personable but my favorite SF announcer was Hank Grenwald - that guy was fantastic; I have two or three cassette tapes of Giants games he did in the late 80’s I listen to in the winter time when Oct has faded and spring is still far away.

I like Kruk and Kuip (sp) as the Comcast announcers. They compliment each other, are very knowledgeable and they are funny. The kind of guys you'd like to have a beer with.

A friend of mine in the LA area will soon send me a tape of
him calling (part of) a game. He said he doesn’t
do too many games (esp. when they travel to the East Coast, for example) and said Dodgers radio broadcasts without him
aren’t as good...
