My grandfather was a college football star who even played for the NFL champs back in 1928, so I was looking forward to seeing George Clooney’s new 1920s football movie, Leatherheads, this weekend. That’s before I found out how Clooney, like many lefties in Hollywood and the news media, had treated the late Charlton Heston.
Clooney’s offense took place a few years back. According to Life Site News, “For his conservative stands, however, Heston was attacked and reviled by his Hollywood colleagues. In 2003 actor and leftist political activist George Clooney joked about Heston’s illness [Alzheimer’s disease], and, after Heston criticized him for the remark, he retorted, 'I don’t care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him.'”

That is why I haven’t entered the theatres or rented their wares for over twenty years. I don’t care how “star-studded” or how many “thumbs up” it gets. When you patronize their movies, you might as well be giving a donation to Howard Dean. I myself would rather rent Ben Hur or The Greatest Story Ever Told but they are becoming so hard to find at the rental places.
I can’t forgive Charlton Heston either. I mean, the man was a great actor, a great citizen, a World War II veteran...what’s there to forgive?

I hope he was just kidding myself. Ever sense he started saying stupid things, I have not had any desire to see his movies. I sorta wanted to see Ocean 13 but decided not too. Maybe it will come on tv someday and I will watch it but unless some absolutely incredible movie comes out that he is in (must be Titanic type) than I will not see his.

But no matter. 50 years latter we still watch Ten Commandments and Ben Hur. 5 mins after Clooney dies we’ll say. “What was he in?” or “I thought Rosemary Clooney died years ago?” George Clooney like most of all Hollywood is utterly meaningless and produces nothing of substance!

Keep it and view it as often as you want... share it with a friend... just can't beat it except the occasional cracked disk that arrives at time via the US mail.

My list of movies that I’m willing to pay hard cash money for is getting longer and longer. I’m just not willing to give these left-wingers out there any of my money and frankly, they aren’t good at what they like to call “acting.” Goes for renting their movies too. And it also goes for cartoons that use them for voices. Whoopi Goldberg is at top of that list.
One of these days — maybe — Hollywood will realize that they’ve shot themselves in the foot when the revenue stream continues in its freefall.
George Clooney isn’t alone — I read somewhere yesterday that Tom Cruise and John Travolta now think that are part of a “new race.”
For sure they have a right to their own opinions. And I have a right to voice my opinion of them and their political points of view by staying away from their movies.

I would question Heston’s diagnosis if he was sharp enough to provide such a perfect answer to George Clooney. It’s difficult to get my wife to go along, but whenever I see George Clooney or his ilk on TV, I leave the room and sign on to Free Republic. Or turn up Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Levin, Medved, or Prager really loud to drown him out.
Get yourself a DVD recorder (one-time investment), a stack of blank DVDs, and tune in to TCM and Fox Movie Channel. You will quickly build a library of great movies, from back when actors actually knew how to act.

Good idea. That is my daughter’s favorite channel. I always walk in and she is watching some Audrey Hepburn movie on it.
Our church also has a library of classics but we have rented just about every one that they have.
What makes more mad is that use losers like that and the Eddie Murphy’s of the world to voice over their cartoons. I just not have my kids searching for their previous works before they became “Rated G”.

Before I hear from the copyright people.... if your taxes pay for the public library, and you're making a copy for your use only, I think that would fall under Fair Use.
