I dislike the new FR format. The former one was simple to use. Why does one need to click on a current post to be able to submit a new post? I would prefer to see the post option returned to the upper right corner of the screen where it was previously. I'm getting so frustrated with the new format I don't enjoy FR any longer.
I must have had the Beta site bookmarked for the past several years by mistake. What’s the production site IP address so I can get some continuity and fewer incrimental upgrades/changes?
This function should not take this kind of round about way to find! It should be at the top and bottom of every page!
The RSS feeds will also make a big difference in what can happen with Free Republic outside this site.
How do they work and what kind of difference?
Not sure I understand.
“the search button at the top of the page at the right!”
Mine’s on the left side......
Agreed. I think it’s excellent.
I love the new format ... and a new surprise seems to pop up every day. Have patience, I think Jim is onto something good. Once you retrain your fingers it’s resources are much easier to access.
Sorry John, I can’t seem to get your attention in the huge thread you were posting in.
Can you please return the “visited link color” to sidebar code inside the common.css file please?
Anything you want, but please add a :visited color
:link { color: rgb(0, 0, 153) } /* for unvisited links */
:visited { color: rgb(153, 0, 153) } /* for visited links */
a:active { color: rgb(255, 0, 102) } /* when link is clicked */
inside common.css
.block { color: #336 }
.block a { color: #336 }
.block a:hover { color: #666 }
add this
.block a:visited { color: #??? }
thanks
.block .header { background-color: #dde }
.block .content { background-color: #eef }
Time for a new poll? :)
(Something new to fight about is a good distraction....)
>> Theyll probably make some more changes.
That change, you can believe in.
I’m looking at the bright side — coping with periodic changes at Free Republic may help me fend off the onset of Alzheimer’s a little longer... :-)
Heh. I learned that word here at FR, years ago!
:o)
You can take an rss feed and send it to different little widgets or programs to stream content. For example, on my website (http://www.mlearning-world.com) if someone opens that site with a mobile phone, I wrote a program that detects that and just displays a rss text of the content instead of the full website. You can use programs like Arise, Google Desktop, or the RSS Reader tool in Macs to stream the threads to your desktop instead of having to actually go to the site. You also can stream headlines to widgets on MySpace, Facebook, blogs, etc. It allows content feeds to be sent everywhere.
I like the Christopher Walken hairdo.
There’s a “POST” link on the home page. Just switch your FR opening page to the home page.
Agree.
It worked the way it was. Why change it?
Hell, I know a twelve year old can program my VCR way better than me, but that’s not the point. Is it worth the frustration? Do I have to learn new ways of doing things every time I come here? Don’t I have enough on my plate (me and a whole lot of other people!) without having to rediscover all the stuff I was used to doing almost automatically?
grrrrr.... (sound of djf being frustrated)
Don’t be a hater
I really like the new format, too. The tabs are nice.
Thanks. This is the type of complaint I can easily work with. :-) Visited are now black.
