(2008-01-15) The nomination of Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson today took on an air of inevitability, after the former senator from Tennessee announced that he believes Sen. Hillary Clinton could whup my caboose in the general election.
You political journalism types flock to the guys you think Sen. Clinton could beat, Mr. Thompson told the reporter at his news conference, I figure once you see me as the inevitable general-election loser Ill have more positive press coverage than McCain and Huckabee combined. The nomination is mine.
Indeed, a new CBS News-Washington Post poll shows that 96 percent of Democrats who tell pollsters theyre Republicans favored Thompson after hearing that he fears Sen. Clinton can beat him.
Meanwhile, the majority of conservative voters in South Carolina, Michigan and Nevada said they plan to wait until the polls close this week before deciding how to cast their ballots, since by then theyll know better which candidate is electable.
What ever happened to voting on the candidate who best fit the position to RUN THIS COUNTRY, based on values and character and ability to do what's right for the country (not themselves)?
American Idol Syndrome............
I SO wish this was 100% satire...
