well it looks like they held them to 7 points in the second half.....

He was good, a big guy with a big arm...... So was Bobby Douglas...Roman Gabriel....Marino had a quick release and was good.... but great? He's better than me, but not better than Roger Staubach or Bradshaw or Starr or Dawson or Sonny Jurgenson ...... or even the "other" great Dolphin.... Griese... or Namath..

Was Jim Brown the best running back of all time. or was it Payton.... or was it Smith....

I vote for Smith, cause I'm a Cowboy fan. I think if I played pro ball I'd of been afraid of Brown. But if you ask the SF safety Lott who he hated to tackle more than anybody.... Walter Payton...why you ask? Cause he did this nasty little thing called "finishing the run"...just before he gets tackled he'd square up, bow up and plow into you.... ouch.

Running backs are about yards, but really quarterbacks are about championships. Like I said, it's not fair, but it is what it is.

Marino will have the stats till Manning (you pick) will break all of his records as will Brady. Then he'll be the second best or third best of all time.

Bradshaw is the most overrated QB ever. Surround any average NFL QB with those Pittsburg Steelers teams and they get 4 SuperBowl rings too.

I'd love to agree with you but the bastard flat out threw the ball a mile, could take an asswhipping you wouldn't believe and did what the men around him couldn't do without him....win a bunch of Super Bowls that belonged to my Dallas Cowboys or Houston Earlers.....

I saw Randy White drive his head flat into the astro turf and it looked like he was dead. Shook his head, wiped the blood from his nose, got up and threw a ball over Swan's shoulder for 35 yards and watched him go it for a TD....

He didn't remember that half of the game when they interviewed him but knew he had been hit when he found the ice pack they'd put on his neck down his jersey. hahahahahhaa.

The best lick I saw was Too Tall and Charlie Waters lay him out on a blitz....

Bradshaw I believe was blessed with a heck of an arm and was as tough a customer as I've seen. I hated him but I respected him also.

The problem with rating QBs (more so than any other player) is that their performance is entirely a function of: 1) the offensive system in which they play, and 2) the personnel around them.

The only way to accurately compare QBs would be to figure out how to evaluate them in the same systems and with the same personnel around them as every other QB. This is not possible, but I've long felt that Marino would have played well on just about any team -- and with just about any decent offensive line around him. He was not mobile at all, so he would not have been effective the way someone like Joe Montana was, but he would have been a Hall of Fame quarterback under almost any scenario I can envision.

As far as running backs go, I'd have to go with Walter Payton -- and by a wide margin, too. Not only did he retire as the NFL's all-time leading rusher, but he did so while playing most of his career on pretty poor teams. And he was one of the NFL's all-time leading pass-receivers, was an exceptional blocker in the backfield, and even threw option passes well enough that he served as the Bears' emergency quarterback if needed (he had about a half-dozen TD passes in his career).

Or Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam for Pittsburgh in the late 60s and early 70s. Or that Tony Dungy was the Steelers emergency QB during the 70s.

Why doesn't anyone mention the minute number of white RBs and WRs? Because they, in general, lack the combination of speed, strength and agility to do the job? Is this racist?

Is Donovan aware that Lovey Smith is the first black head coach to lose a Super Bowl?

Jake Plummer was run out of Denver after losing in the playoffs for what, one year in a row? How many chances has McNabb had?

How many games did Jeff Garcia win for Philly last year? Was he given a chance to win the starting job at QB?

I was posting back then, and if I saw a tread about it I am sure I would have said something (I normally don’t hold back). Anyway, my brother had Owens in his Fantasy Football team and he was royally pissed. I have watched both players for a long time and I remember McNabb was one of like 8 or 10 “running” QB’s to come out of college over a two or three year period. I said back then that as soon as he looses his “running” ability his career will flounder (also said the same about Culpepper and I had him in FFB his first year, when he actually was good).

All I really have to say is re-watch the Philly Super Bowl. Both supposedly played hurt, and IIRC Owens injury was something like a broken bone and it was a hell of a lot more serious then McNabb’s. McNabb has always been a whiny $itch.

Don’t get me wrong, Owens ego is about as big as it gets but when you’re that good you can get away with arrogance. If you are of McNabb’s caliber then all you are doing is making excuses.

Also, remember when Owens supposedly tried to commit suicide and McNabb said he called to wish him his best. Owens punked him out and basically said McNabb never called him. McNabb was just trying to look good for the press and got called out.

You ain’t kidding. The Run & Shoot. Moon, Jeffries, Givens, White, Roser, Highsmith. With heart breaking playoff losses agains the Broncos (2), Bills (2), Steelers, Seahawks and Chiefs. Every year we where in the playoffs and every year it was a heartbreaking loss, whether it was the final freaking drive (ala Elway) or that cluste %$&* of a game against Buffalo. If I ever see that SOB Jim Eddie he better run, and I don’t mean the prevent freak’n defense, I mean he better run for his life.

Deon Sanders told Waddle he was the best white wide receiver he’s played against. Waddle was feeling pretty good until he realized, he was the only white wide receiver in the league at the time.

I think McNabb’s skills are fading and he knows it...so lets play the race card to get the media off his back.

I saw an article last year about the most overrated NFL teams of all time, and that 1972 Miami team was at the top of the list — which is pretty amazing when you consider they went 17-0.
I had no idea how average that team actually was. What I found most amazing (and pretty strong evidence that they were a very overrated team) was that they were undefeated through the regular season and through two playoff games, yet they were UNDERDOGS in that Super Bowl game against the Redskins!

They lucked into a soft schedule, no denying that aspect. And yep, I remember the Skins being favored.

Even with Garo’s hilariously funny pass attempt, it was the single most boring Super Bowl of all time.

That said....the fact they beat every team that took the field against them remains one of the most impressive feats in sports.

Just my opinion.
