Scientists investigating the unpleasant problem of what the cat drags in believe they have found a way to curb felines' predatory urges. A study by conservationists has revealed that the number of birds, rodents and other creatures captured by cats fell dramatically if the pets were fitted with brightly coloured, clip-on bibs that hindered their ability to stalk and pounce.
Cats fitted with the bibs were seemingly still able to eat, run and groom themselves, but were rendered less of a threat to other wildlife, the researchers found.

Seems pretty stupid. How about just keeping Kitty indoors instead. That’s what we do with our cat.
I am all for cats living inside. Out side their lives are short and violent. But if they do go outside, I don’t think they should wear anything around their necks.
And I have very strong feelings about cats being allowed to kill wildlife. Negative feelings.
I do like her killing mice and roaches. She doesn’t go after birds.
BTW, my cat is an indoor cat. We just have an old house and irrigation. Which means little varmints show up.

I was impressed. A neighbor gave her to us when a friend of his had taken her from her mom when she was only four weeks old. She was nearly blind (her eye gook was so thick and no one had taken care of her), had mites, and looked like she was going to die. She didn’t even know how to clean herself. I have read the mama cat teaches the kittens to hunt. So, was impressed to find that she had taught herself to hunt.
So I should be allowed to release 1,000 wolves into your back yard and let them follow their “natural instincts”?
Do YOU realize how ignorant YOUR post sounds? I’m serious. Until you understand the implications of releasing non-native predators into an environment then you speak from ignorance. And that is what it sure looks like from my side of the fence.

BTW, my comments are not intended to be negative towards you as a person, rather to a few of your ideas.
I live right in the middle of Houston on a ravine and my yard is a bird sanctuary. I have dozens of species of birds and dozens of others that migrate through. We have several neighborhood cats and I have never seen any of them catch a bird, rats yes, squirrels yes, but no birds.
My last cat died several years ago, the last of 7 housecats. I am now officially allergic to cat dander and I won’d be getting any more.

Two of my cats, one especially, were champion bird hunters. This was after all of them reduced the rat/mouse population on the property to almost nil. We put collars with bells on - and they are safe, there’s a little elastic thingie that enables them to slip the collar off if it gets tangled.
The former bird hunters are now reduced to lizards with a few moles, which we mostly are able to rescue.
Those bibs look miserable to wear. Cats are mentally very fragile already! I would hate to have a bunch of psychotic cats around.
