Don't hold the mayo (Canola Real Mayonnaise instead of Soy yea!)
San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | May 2007

Posted on 05/20/2007 11:57:02 PM PDT by restornu

All of a sudden, mayonnaise is in the news. Kraft touts its "first-of-its-kind" Big Mouth jar, a 32-ounce shatterproof container with an opening double the size of the one on a regular jar. Spatulas and even measuring cups fit neatly into the jar, which is available in Real Mayo and Light Mayo. It's about $2.65 in supermarkets.

Not to be upstaged, Best Foods has introduced Canola Real Mayonnaise, made with canola oil instead of the soybean oil usually used in bottled mayo.

Canola oil is said to have a better fatty-acid profile, meaning it contains higher levels of monounsaturated fat and omega-3 fatty acids. It's also low in saturated fat and contains no trans fats. In plain language, a tablespoon of canola mayo might be a bit better for you than soybean mayo, but it does not come with a license to slather more of the stuff on that tuna salad sandwich.

Arriving now in supermarkets, Best Foods canola mayo costs about $3.60 for a 32-ounce jar.

We really have to struggle with our food today in a different way than our ancestors.

We have arrived at that "Nirvana of doing things" and what do, we allow other self appointed phantoms to re-invent the wheel!

Someone has allowed the “minority disconnect generations” to be in charge of all the people that has dismantled and disposed of all of the tried and true formula that has taken of all the centuries gone by to achieve!

There was a reason why common sense laws were set in place it was to protect this great nation from all of the past failure of those nations we departed from!

Now some brilliant minds decided we need to share and allow others in on all the efforts of out forefathers!

Worst of all with out qualification!

We are getting foods that are tainted and overly processed from other nations that have not our same values.

It is getting to the point I fear ordering even from my Chinese take out place, because this generation of Asians are not like that our parents day who respected this country.

It seems we always need to be on guard of what and where we shop!

Even today diets that say they are based on science are also all mingle with the philosophy of men instead of truth!

In my mind God made a perfect food the Egg, and these fools want to discard the yolk!

Our foods are so overly processed and causing a lot of health issues and confusion in the nervous system of our bodies to send the signal to the proper channels because our foods have been so adulterated.

So no wonder other nations think they can send us tainted food!

But instead of murmuring we need to get organized to educate and restore common sense to this great nation again.

One thing for sure the disinformation gang is not going to do it, so it is left up to us who have time and talent and organized and to act on this or thing can and will continue to get deteriorate or metamorphous.

How many freepers are in community or public service?

If we don't like current community groups than let start our own with those who are in sync with us!

How many have gone to those local board meeting? years of ago those places had leaders that had simular value sytems as ours but today the left has hog it all and don't like to share you would be surprised how much clout they reel and why many times things show up in your community that seems contrary to good and most times very offensived.

If no one represent your values in a community who fault is it?

Thank you for my rant!

I'm just not so sure about canola oil. It's made from rapeseed, from what I've been told, which is generally poisonous.

We really have to struggle with our food today in a different way than our ancestors.

In fairness to today’s folks, they are just trying to make our lives longer and longer. Our ancestors had an average life of 64 a generation ago. Today it is late 70’s and perhaps 80 for women. So although it is annoying to see them get their nose in our food business (which I ignore for the most part), I think they are doing it for a worthy cause at least on their outlook of it.

I know it is confusing but my yea was for the Real Mayonnaise from "Best Buy" Not Kraft

You are right about "high fructose corn syrup", HFCS is poison to our system!

I read if a product containsin the first 5 items; are simple carbohydrates, HFCS, added sugars, enriched or bleached flours, trans and saturated fats

In fairness to today’s folks, they are just trying to make our lives longer and longer.

That group is being over ruled by those who allow other nations such as China to tanited food to unsupected citizens to eat.

It is a fact to day the simple carbohydrates, HFCS, added sugars, enriched or bleached flours, trans and saturated fats are poison to the system and some times hard to pin down in your purchase.

Are you aware if you pick up a package of uncooked meat it might contain flavor water which could throw ones diet off or be allergic to it!

I did not know that. Great just what we need for the diet industry to even become more powerful. I wonder if the diet groups pay the meat packers to “help” ensure people have to go on diets for long periods or impead their work.

Also soy has estrogens which aren’t good for men.

I can’t remember where I heard that but I did go to my market and some were labled that way!

If its just the meat you will only get weight and cost but some will identify the percentage of water and if it is flavored!

They don’t tell you with what?

I think they do it for taste.

But sodium and other things could throw you off course.

Also soy has estrogens which aren’t good for men.

Nor for children, male or female. It is my belief that the soy formula so widely used by "busy" moms over the last half century has brought about hormonal problems (unnatural in boys, and premature in girls) which affect behavior.

Worse yet, soy is in almost everything. You’d be surprised what soy is in.

The Hellmann’s/Miracle Whip divide is one that will never be bridged.

I don’t know why, but people love one and hate the other and you can hardly find those who eat both.

(Me, I prefer the Whip on sammiches, but the real mayo in recipes.)

I Know. Wherever vegetable oil is used, the likelihood will be that it's soy oil; wherever flour in used, it will include soy flour; anywhere protein is added, it will be soy protein.

Re. the subject of this post, I learned long ago that all mayonnaise sold in supermarkets used soy oil. I had to go to Trader Joe's brand.
