Idaho county creates anti-wolf chapter
(AP) -- ^ | February 22, 2007 | (AP) --

Residents in Bingham County have started a local chapter of the Idaho Anti-Wolf Coalition, which is collecting signatures to once again try to get an initiative to ban gray wolves from Idaho on the ballot.

The group failed to gather enough signatures to get a similar initiative on the ballot last year.

Coalition Chairman Ron Gillett of Stanley said the group's new goal is to gather 100,000 signatures. He also has instructed petition carriers to make certain that everyone who signs is a registered voter.

In 2006, the group collected more than 40,000 signatures in six weeks before running out of time and falling short of the required 45,893 signatures. Organizers also learned that many signatures proved to be worthless because the signers were not registered voters.

"If we could get that many signatures in six weeks, I don't think we'll have any problem getting the 45,893 we need by April 30, 2008," Gillett said.

The initiative may be the only opportunity to reverse efforts by the U.S.. Fish and Wildlife Service to restore wolf populations to Idaho, he said.

"Don't think our Legislature is going to be successful in getting wolves delisted as a protected species and have a hunting season on them, because it's not going to happen," he said. "The wolf lovers won't let it. It's up to us to save Idaho's game herds. But we don't need to let somebody in California or New York tell us what to do in Idaho."

A former outfitter and guide from the Stanley Basin, Gillett said the wolves have ruined his business. They should never have been allowed in Idaho, Montana or Wyoming, where hunting is part of the economy, he said.

"Wyoming has the right idea," he said. "They said if the wolves stick their heads out of Yellowstone Park, they will kill them; and they're not backing down."

Is Alaska now allowing the use of super cubs to control the wolf packs or are they still banned ?

Now Arnoiled Schwartzenfrauder has communized the entire Sierra-Nevada mountain range that includes the eastern 1/5th of CA so's the GANG-GREEN knit-wits can rule out anything and everything we might do with the property we used to control and not just own!!! But he still says he's a danged Republican!!!

I live in Idaho because it was abundantly clear to me in 1999 that California will never again be a rational, conservative state. The demographics have permanently shifted in favor of the loony socialists. Staying only meant my vote was meaningless. The only thing the socialists wanted from me was a fat state income tax confiscation.

I traded at 1334 sq ft house in San Diego with a wretched 40-90 minute commute to work EACH WAY for a beautiful 3900 sq ft house and no commute at all. The prospects of a wolf pelt on the wall in exchange for helping reduce the population of ravenous beasts is not bad either. The 30-06 is ready to go.

The PROBLEM is that Wyoming and Montana are ready to "deal with it" and Idaho is waffling around.

Let's get ON with it, people....!!!!

Unfortunately, the "delisting" in the three states is tied together. This is known as 'REGIONALIZING'....and it is a safety valve for the Enviro-Weenies as this illustrates HOW difficult it is for three adjoining states to massage their laws to please the Feds.....who don't want to cede control of ANYTHING.....

sheesh.

When it comes to wolves, whether your on the ground, or in the air, the rules are still the same. Shoot, shovel, and shut up! Hanging out a Super-cub, and shootinging behind the tarrget spot is kind of like the lead in shooting at ducks, except in reverse.

30-06? save the lead money and put it in fuel. I can get a brick of ammo for about $180 (1000 rounds!) vs almost $.50 or more for 06. Besides, varmit gun is quick out of the barrel, 06 I hope my bullet gets there before the sound.
