Thanks for the post. I agree with much of what you said. I know quite a few tattoo artists as my husband rides with them... I think the skull tat was terrible and if my sons came home with anything like that I would flip. They would be wearing a hat until their hair grew back.... So many women I know have them, very respectful church goers I might add. But you wouldn't know unless they told you or showed you.... I feel..... this way I don't judge people by whats on the outside but what is in the inside. I have met the most beautiful people only to find out they were terribly ugly and mean on the inside. And I have met people who weren't the best looking but were beautiful, wonderful people on the inside. I think what you put on your body you better really want and like because its going to be there or there will be a removal scar for the rest of your life. People need to THINK before they get anything permanent on their body. And body pericings can leave scars when you decide you don't want it anymore.
I think there's a lot of psychological garbage behind obsessive tattooing and piercing, and while it's never been "my" style, it works for others. ......Exactly! Well said!!
I can't think of a single person I know, aside from my Mom that doesn't have a tattoo of some sort.....Me either. lol
Maybe I'm the freak? LOL! If you are the freak then I am right there with you...Thanks ~~Pandora ~~

No,
Not everyone here hates tats...
Personally,
I like them a lot, know lots of folks with them that are smart, cool, funny and great folks.
I know lots of women with them who are good mothers, wives and daughters. One of the dancers I admire the most on the planet has a tat that encircles her midsection.... I admire not only her dancing, but her putting her mantra on her body.
Don't let the idjits get ya down!

How much does someone have to hate themselves to mutilate themselves with facial piercings and gaudy tattoos?

Thanks...I was kind of shocked by some of the comments made about white trash and skanks. My mother used to tell me when someone was a name caller.....it takes one to know one..... However I won't be so rude as to say that about my fellow posters many of whom I usually admire for their beliefs and wits. Have a great night ~~Pandora~~

OK...with freedoms, we make choices. We also have to live with the results of our choices.
Whether anyone likes it or not, many people feel that tattoos are an indicator of undesirable behavior. Getting angry won't change that--in fact, it might do the opposite.
I'm not going to get mad at people who don't like fat old grandmothers. If I hated it, I'd lose weight and try to be "young." If you hate the attitude others have because of tattoos, lose the tattoos.
Tattooees get to have your tattoos, and others get to have their opinions.

Anybody who says sex wasn't in their mind when they got their tongue pierced is a liar, too. More advertizing, "I'm a slut."
And of course that applies to the MEN who get their tongues pierced too doesn't it? So men with pierced tongues are sluts not just the women. I want to make that clear that you are calling both men and women sluts who pierce their tongues. Do you realize how silly that sounds?.... I personally don't even want to think about anyone coming near my tongue with a huge needle. But you can not tell me the people who do it are all sluts. You don't know why they do it nor do I.....I have asked people why they would do that and never once was the answer because I was to advertise I am a slut. Usually the answer was because I wanted to.

True but to call people names is just ignorant.... People do need to really think before they get that tat at 18 yrs old that might prevent them from a good job later on..... It isn't as easy as people think to just lose the tats either. So thats why the artists I know talk with the person and find out the reasons why they want that tattoo before just inking them up. These parties where teens get together and get tattoo's is upsetting to me. ....Hep C is no joke. Nor is any infection you could get. I don't know why so many people are so into them... As for fat grandmothers ..... I think so many women are afraid to age that its silly. I am a grandmother and I am proud of it. But I do believe in aging gracefully. And I am not getting anymore tattoos. Nor do I try to be a teenager as so many women I know do. I don't wear clothes that a teenager would wear. I am happy being me.

Hey, Fiero,
Do you know anything about these people besides what you read in this article? Do you know a person's personality and their moral fiber by simply looking at them? If so, then you are a genius and really need to capitalize on your sixth sense.
Some of us have been around and call it as we see it.
Thats your problem.
If there is something that you see that you don't like, just turn your head. I am sure whoever got that tattoo did not do it just to impress you.
And I am sure that from now on, they will consult you before they do anything.
IOW, yeah, I got some. So does my wife.
And we don't give a damn if you or anyone else likes them or not.
(I am educated and make a very nice living, so does my wife. I am placing bets on how you think our tattoos are ruining our lives and the lives of everyone we come in contact with)

Four points also appears highly correlated with STD, unfaithfulness, and infertility. Such four pointer losers should be avoided like the plague in my view.
Well whadayou know?
My wife has one tattoo (one point)
She smokes (two)
She has both her ears pierced(four)
Are you about to say that my wife and large percentage of women on this board are sluts, unfaithful wives, INFERTILE (I don't know where the hell that came from), and have a sexually transmitted disease?
All because they smoke, have a tattoo and have their ears pierced????
Is that really what you are saying? Please say that you are not that stupid.

He also said... Anybody who says sex wasn't in their mind when they got their tongue pierced is a liar, too. More advertizing, "I'm a slut."
I want to know if he feels the men who get their tongues pierced are sluts too but he won't tell me. I think he if is going to say a stupid statement like that he better be saying men are sluts too who got their tongues pierced with sex on their minds.
Thank you for your post. ~~Pandora~~

My Pop was "old" navy - 1919 - 1946. During his early days he was what was known as a 'China Sailor.' He spent about 10 or so years in the area. Like most , he got some tattoos. Some with nice reds, yellows and blue ink. Later in his Navy career he got tat's in the Mediterranean, in San Diego, Boston and a few other port cities.
It always amazed me, and him, that the only ones that held color were the Chinese tattoos he got so long ago.
When he passed at age 88 those Chinese tattoos still held pretty good color. There was some fading; but you could easily see what the original colors were. And all his still looked good. Sharp lines and good definition.
Myself, I spent quite a number of years in the Army and am still un-inked. But there's this Ranger tab I've been thinkin about....;)
