That song brings back a lot of memories. I'm probably among the youngest of Americans to actually have been a Reagan Democrat and to remember quarter juke boxes. Gordon Lightfoot's epic was always my pick when it was my turn to put a quarter in when hanging out at the local pizza parlor with high school friends . . . because you got your money's worth.
I still play that song every November in memory of the brave men who died doing their job.

I love the song about the Edmund Fitzgerald. I don't often hear it. Wish I could find a CD of it.

Check out this sale on eBay or look for
Gord's Gold Volume II in your favorite record store. It's a testament of the value that used prices on eBay aren't all that much less than buying the CD new.

Actually some oldies and classic rock stations in Boston area have been known to play it on occasion. Many stores should have the Complete Greatest Hits album (I have it) and it's on there.I think when the song came out I thought the incident had taken place many years ago but it was only a year or so before? The part about "the legend lives on" refers to the lake and not the boat's sinking...
To: raccoonradio
I can understand that. The Edmund Fitzgerald was not the first victim of the lake and definately not the last.

My search missed it because of the misspelling. "Edmund Fitzgeral"
To: Vigilanteman
Thanks, I will check that out.

I love the song about the Edmund Fitzgerald. I don't often hear it. Wish I could find a CD of it. I have a CD that contains that selection, and also found wma and mp3s on line...
It's quite popular.

That is not the original version of the song we all know and love. You need the "Summertime Dream" album. It's available on Amazon.
