Ok, folks,
now that I got your attention, I may say a few words on the election outcome from abroad.
As a foreigner I don´t allow myself here to comment on the sovereign decision of the American voters.
But on a personal level I may express sorry for you, who have worked hard to get Senators and Representatives re-/elected. I know what losing is like, I had that in 2 1/2 out of 3 federal elections in my country. There´s a lot of frustration, especially the first weeks up to the moment when the winners take over the power they got.
But after this moment, the fighting spirit comes back. You are now in the opposition, and though it´s a setback, it´s also a chance! Use it wisely, and you can get back the control of the Senate in 2 years - that´s a short period of time. Giving the chance to replace 1/3 of the Senate after 2 years was a smart move of the founders of your country.
The world has seen worse disasters, and comparing this day with 9/11 is by far exaggerated.
I hope that you get back your optimism and fighting spirit. That´s all I have to say on this personal level.
Good Luck and see you on the board!
Michael Germany
Thank you.
You're correct, dammit!!!
Thank you Michael.
There is much to be done.
A voice of sanity from an insane country!! Thanks Michael!
We survived 40 years of left wing house rule and James Earl Carter/William Jefferson Clinton.. we will make it over the next two years!
I think we had better prepare for another 9/11 and the Dem's blaming the American people....
The title of your post completely disagrees with it's content. The squishy business-as-usual GOP agenda has failed; the conservative agenda has yet to be fully implemented.
The ditzy, cross-eyed blonde on FOX News just said she thinks Rush Limbaugh probably helped McCaskill win when he "mocked" the phony baloney campaign ad actor, Mikey Fox.
We'll soon get to see the results of racist and Democrat cowardly policy against defense. Their are quite a few nations aligning with Islamofascist regimes.
This is, of course, horse-puckey. It did serve to make Amendment 2 much closer, though it looks like it will narrowly pass. I would say it had no effect on the race overall with perhaps a smidgin more of a turnout against Amendment 2 which would trend towards Talent overall.
No we can't. In 2006, our strongest senate class was up for reelection with only Burns (too old) and Chafee (from too democratic a state) being vulnerable and with a lot of weak democrat senators up (Menedez, appointed/never elected ,Cantwell, Stabenow, red staters Nelson in NE and Nelson in FL, and open seats in MN, MD, )
In 2008, our most vulnerable senators go up, mostly 1st termers from the class of 2002 plus some old farts who need to retire. If our 2002 class took the field in 2006, we might have lost 12 senate seats.
This does clear the board a little, however. The real stakes are in 2008. And at the moment, with a triumphant press and the radical wing of the Democratic party in ascension, we're going to have our work cut out for us. My very best to you on an unhappy evening.
LOL, this is intended to attract your attention. The title has nothing to do with my best wishes for you and the GOP. :-)
But now the Dems have to prove that they can do better - as they claim. The following two years could very well help the GOP for the next presidential election, don´t you think?
Don´t let it hurt you personally. I know that´s said so easily, but on election day - when you lose - it´s impossible. Still, take a deep breath of the cold fresh air and a glass of wine/beer and be take satisfaction that you still hold the most powerful position in the world.
Yes, depending on how well Bush decides to lead (and threaten with his veto power).
