PORTLAND -- An Oregon outdoors enthusiast is suing the federal government for not posting a danger warning next to a cliff in the Mount Hood National Forest.
Twenty-three-year-old Jerry Mersersau says he suffered mental anguish after trekking out in the dark to relieve himself and falling off a cliff in the national forest.
According to his lawsuit, Mersersau, who was not carrying a flashlight, fell about 20 to 30 feet onto a creek bed.
Mersersau charges that the government should have known that the cliff posed a danger to campers.

Seems to me there isn't much mental there, so how much anguish could there be?

Let me guess...this moron lives in a city. Aside from cliffs, in the wilderness there are also wild animals, uneven ground, fallen trees, nasty bugs, dangerous people, etc.
I don't even know where to start. An outdoor "enthusiast" who doesn't carry a flashlight at night. Who doesn't know himself that cliffs are dangerous. Not to mention its improper from an environmental aspect to use the great outdoors as a bathroom. He suffered mental anguished because he realized what a complete boneheaded idiot he is. Then he compounds it by telling the world thru this effort to get money for nothing.

If there was a warning sign, how could he have read it in the dark? Should the gov't have tied a flashlight around his neck too?

He should be arrested for exposing himself in public. He can sue from jail.

Sorry excuses like this should be shot. Besides getting rid of the lawsuit which will waste tax dollars, it will strengthen the gene pool.
I want the government to post a sign on all cougars and bears: "Danger! Keep Away!"
Sometimes, it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and relieve all doubt.
