I am sure the troops in Iraq,

the forgotten victims of Katrina,

the people being gauged at the gas pumps

are grateful that President Bush

is focusing on the central issue

facing our nation:

how to bar gay Americans

from someday maybe getting the right

to obtain a civil marriage license.

Bush first announced

Federal Marriage Amendment

in feb 2004 –

since that day

1,943 American soldiers were killed in Iraq.

Total dead - 2476

Total wounded - 15,271

got off the plane in atlanta

a handsome man met me at the door

walked me down the stairs

into a car on the tarmac

drove me around to the curb

where another car was waiting

to take me to this swanky hotel

its good to know jane fonda

i am here to honor her

a roast of some sort

hosted by larry king

here’s hoping he doesn’t read blogs

i have to go to hair and make up

in room 20/20

in ten minutes

then off to the gala

looking very different then i did

when i arrived in hotlanta

event is over

they raised a million dollars

for GCAPP

janes charity

helping prevent teen pregnancy

i told no jokes about jane

had only praise

for the woman she was in the early 70’s

screaming no war

loudly

when so few could hear

i adored her then

and still do
