A few years back I was at a party for New Years and the guy took his shotgun outside and shot up in the air. He hit the main wires coming into his house and the electricity went off and ruined the whole party. The Electric co had to come and put it all back together and they weren't too happy about it.

Sounds like you might have saved some hurt. A broken water line is a lot less painful than a hole in the top of a head. The Arabs in the Middle East haven't learned that yet.

There's a new widower and some orphans in NYC this week because of people shooting guns off to celebrate. A mom leaned out her apartment window to see what the commotion was in the street below. Some dumbass shot her through the eye as she leaned out.
Better a hole in the water pipe than a hole in somebody's head.

I thought this was against the law.
FIRST off, they may need that ammunition to fight the hordes of Muslims who plan to over run our Country.
Second, they may need that ammunition to fight off the illegal undocumented drug smugglers who have access to the USA from all borders.
Third, they may need that ammunition to fight off a New Orleans gang who tries to invade their home.
There are countless better uses for ammunition than "celebrating" the New Year by wasting it.
