A young bull moose last seen late this week trapped on a steep, sandy bluff above Knik Arm is apparently in its endgame, according to authorities and those who've seen it.
The moose has been stranded halfway up a 200-foot bluff for almost a week. Either it will find a way off, says a state biologist, or it will weaken from dehydration and hunger and likely tumble to the rocky beach below, probably dying in the fall.
The bluff is roughly across from Elmendorf Air Force Base, about halfway between Goose Bay and Point MacKenzie, according to those who've seen the moose.
People moved by the creature's plight have urged the state Department of Fish and Game to save the moose. But there's little chance of airlifting it off the cliff, biologist Tony Kavalok said Friday from his Palmer office.
To tranquilize the bull in preparation for a lift would probably send him falling to the bottom, Kavalok said.

So it will die a euphoric death. Just like Terry Schindler.
Another trapped Moose.
I disagree. It will probably survive the fall. I think the landing will do him in.
The cheese and the sister already went over the edge.

That's right, and just like TS, there will be a bunch of people grand-standing to "save" IT.

You bet! Hundreds of moose are killed in Southcentral Alaska by automobiles every year. They get out on the highways and are totally unpredictable. I hit one of them quite a few years ago, and it was a real mess. It was a young one that tried to jump my car and ended up being split into half. While waiting for the authorities to show up, people tried to steal it!
Had to drive home without a windshield...
