Genius...Pure Genius. (President Bush and the GOP)

Is it just the cynic in me, or are the planets lining up too perfectly for the next Supreme Court nominee(s)?

For the past six years, I as I know some of you have marveled at the deft political maneuvers of our President and his political team. We have wondered silently and sometimes aloud on this site, “Wow…you couldn’t have planned that better if you tried. The hand of G_d must be on this man and his team”. Well, with the most recent major news events, I believe now, it is both.

Maybe it’s my background as a professional marketer to look at events through the prism of motivational strategy, but I see some magnificent political manipulation and some incredible coincidence happening simultaneously worthy of the title…”The Greatest American Politician”. And, in the fullness of time, I believe that the President with the help of his team will be recognized with that title.

The history of the past six years aside, let’s just review the past few days. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will be stepping down in days. Of this, there is really no doubt. Likewise, at least one other Justice may as well; Sandra Day O’Conner comes to mind. This leaves the administration with quite a fight on their hands to place two conservative justices without causing a Democrat filibuster. Virtually impossible is more likely. So what do you do? The only way to pressure the Democrats is to gain the support of the vast majority of the American Public, especially going in to an important election year. And make looking like an obstructionist so unpalatable, they can’t sustain a filibuster for long.

First….. you need to set-up the Democrats to take the fall if gridlock is caused in the US Senate. This they have done with the “bi-partisan” agreement on approving the President’s judicial nominees. To the general public, being the fair and equitable people we are, the Republicans have given in to the Democrats, so in fairness, it’s the Democrats turn.

Second…you need to instill fear into the public of what may happen if the Democrats get their way. So, you let the Guantanamo issue “bake” just enough to have some poor sap of a Senator step in it, as Turban Durbin did this past week. With that one speech, he has colored all Democrats with the “yellow” brush of hate. Hate of the military, hate of the Department of Homeland Security, hate of the people of the US in deciding that Guantanamo is there to protect us. The latest polling showing the public gets it….they know why Guantanamo is there and they like it there. The appointed “leader” of the Democrats has placed himself and his party squarely against the wishes, and the needs of the American Public.

Third…you send Carl Rove out to drive the point home…with blunt focus, for those who don’t quite get it yet. “The Democrats are dangerous, if they get power, we’re all in danger. They’re the surrender wing of US politics”.

Fourth (note that I don’t say finally, as we have the President’s Iraq speech on Tuesday)….now that the public views the Democrats with an ever-increasing jaundiced eye, out comes a decision by the Supreme Court, so patently liberal in scope that the American public is panicked, rightly so, I might add, that their property can just be taken from them, “for the good of the state”. The liberal-socialist dream case. A decision made by the liberal wing of the Supreme Court, with one defection. A terrifying glimpse of a possible future if liberals get there way perhaps? Talk about the perfect storm!

All these issues can not be the vagaries of chance….it must be part of a greater plan. The stage is set, let the curtain rise and let us behold one of the greatest strategic political plans of all time, taken to fruition.

Genius…pure genius!

OR... maybe this is all a dnc ruse to get us to think this is a GOP stratagem and they have sent agents out to sites like this to fan the flames just a little but to also keep us all in check... AND if so, then maybe the GOP has some under cover double agent working incognito in the dnc and this really is a GOP gambit camouflaged as a dnc ruse, masked as a GOP stratagem! Yes. That's it.

Nahhhhh! Couldn't be. Occam's Razor Baby!

Simplest solution is the best. The GOP are geniuses. They keep proving it over and over again. The proof is in the voting for the past eight years.

The only flaw I see is that the five Supreme Court Justices that made the city a part owner of my property are still there.

Any good plan needs to get rid of them!

As nice as it all sounds, your explanation is not so simple. The simplest explanation is that we are all being sent down the river, having the wool pulled over our eyes, sold a bill of goods, getting pee'd upon and being told it's raining, etc.

What makes you think that the Dems will "honor" the idea that a conservative like Rehnquist needs to be replaced by another conservative? Not to be cynical, but these people don't "honor" anything but idiotic party allegiance to Reid, Kennedy, Pelosi, and sHrillary. They WILL filibuster President Bush's nominee for SCOTUS, whoever is being replaced. Personally, I'd rather see one of the dim ones who voted in the majority on the eminent domain case yesterday step down, and have that person replaced with a REAL justice. My bet: Rehnquist and O'Connor hang on for awhile, and maybe outlast some of these others.

Well, unfortunately it's a life-time appointment. When you're in a hole, first, stop digging.

We need some nominees who are conservative. Not, ones whose qualifications include being palatable to the liberals. To make that work with the American people, a plan is needed. I believe we are seeing some of it.

Some could be pure fortuitous luck, but some of this must be a plan. It's setting up too well to be chance.

It's exactly that I don't believe they will honor this that I believe this plan is being put in play.

The GOP has to "prepare the ground" around a replacement that the potential filibustering of any nominee will elicit a severe penalty from the public. Hopefully, a penalty so severe as to cause further erosion of the Democrat party ranks in the halls of Congress during the next election cycle. In addition, the President will get the nominee he wants. And we will get a continuation toward a more conservative court.
