...list
I think it's longer than War & Peace but definitely worth the read.
It's ...And Ladies of the Club"
Please add me to the ping list. I will be out most of next week, but I look foward to reading it when I get back.
ach, I meant the first "the" in the first reference...not "And THE Ladies of the Club", just "...And Ladies of the Club".
I'll stop now.
LOL
Jeff,
Thanks for the ping. I have read some of the excerpts of your works that have been posted from time to time, and they were excellent.
I wish I had the time to read your entire series, but I can't put a good book down once I've started, and that would not be good for my business at this time.
I promise to get them just before my next vacation (a long relaxing one, I hope).
Gotta get back to work. Keep on writing and posting.

Best Fregards.
I love "The House at Old Vine"!
Have you read "Gad's Hall" by Lofts?
2. Glory for Me..by MacKinlay Kantor..the novella upon which "the Best Years of Our Lives" was based..perhaps the greatest movie of WW II.. Kantor's now hardly remember.. 3. The Vicar ofChrist..can't remember the author's name...a wonderful read about a US Marine officer who becomes in turn, a Korean War Hero, the CJ of the US Supreme Court, and finally, the first American Pope..
I don't think I've read that one but I've read Lover's All Untrue and Devil's Own which I liked too. I haven't read any of them in awhile and I think it's time I picked them up and read them again. There's no way to spend a better evening than with a good book, a roaring fire and a mug of hot chocolate!
I've never read "Glory for Me", but I'm a Kantor-appreciator. I dig into "Andersonville" every few years, but I've only been able to handle "Spirit Lake" twice.
Kantor was one of those rare writers who can burrow into your brain and change your vision of history...he had an amazing gift.
copying for the list of book titles
Just getting back to you comment from last night. Kantor's a good author for a summer read, curl up on the beach, or a hammock..haven't read either in year..Used to enjoy going back and rereading a good book...now, I Freep...time is a limited resource. Do get a copy of Glory for Me...just check..Amazon has several at about $12..the movie is magnificent..I think the book is better...the other great American author of the mid 20th century...also now hardly ever read..Kenneth Roberts..his novels of the birth of this country are wonderful....amazing how habits have changed. Kids today when they do read, it's Harry Potter..I grew up devouring the Horatio Hornblower series..
Jeff's books are among my favorites. Thank you, Jeff.
...you are very welcome, but I feel that the thanks must be voiced to you. And I do.
I applaud your attempt in getting a Blook Club going. May I suggest that, instead of just having everyone list what books they are reading, you pick 5 books that might make for good discussions. Then have readers vote on which book they'd like to discuss.
Pick or vote a different book every two weeks (or so, depending on length).
Mix up the genres. Try suggesting a historical novel one time, then a classic novel the next (that way readers aren't discussing Sean Hannity's book every week)
Just my two cents worth...
