I've never read "Glory for Me", but I'm a Kantor-appreciator. I dig into "Andersonville" every few years, but I've only been able to handle "Spirit Lake" twice.
Kantor was one of those rare writers who can burrow into your brain and change your vision of history...he had an amazing gift.
Just getting back to you comment from last night. Kantor's a good author for a summer read, curl up on the beach, or a hammock..haven't read either in year..Used to enjoy going back and rereading a good book...now, I Freep...time is a limited resource. Do get a copy of Glory for Me...just check..Amazon has several at about $12..the movie is magnificent..I think the book is better...the other great American author of the mid 20th century...also now hardly ever read..Kenneth Roberts..his novels of the birth of this country are wonderful....amazing how habits have changed. Kids today when they do read, it's Harry Potter..I grew up devouring the Horatio Hornblower series..
