"...the current number of young women in Ireland, who are becoming pregnant to receive welfare cheques."

Looks like someone needs to implement a little Welfare Reform...or is this the Irish Guv'ment's way to combat the low fertility rate that plagues Old Europe?!

Juxtapose immigrants to the U.S. from western Europe & SE Asia.
Interesting, to say the least.

"If "Kevin" enjoys writing of "truths" than he must be prepared to weather the blows of all comers. Their "attacks" are an extremely well thought out, anticipated reaction to their social engineering schemes. Moreover if "Kevin's" sacked by this filthy Irish Liberal-Socialist rag, he *must* consider it the luckiest thing that may ever happen to him *&* his career."

Yep...true conservative RightWingers have a lot more FRiends in the Culture War than they used to...MUD

Pleased to make your acquiantance, I_T.

Couple *excellent* pieces, thanks.
Personally I especially enjoyed the first essay by The Clairmont Institute's (?) Terrence O. Moore.

I found my mind reflecting on so many points Moore made & the first couple were his referring to the "new age" male (ie, who's a "gym rat" etc) as a "barbarian".
Great term, "barbarian", and I never thought there might be *signals* sent/recieved by the position of one's baseball cap, either. Always thought it merely the sign of a true moron trying to mimick other morons; but, I guess I'm wrong since Moore makes his case, beautifully.

Be that as it may, I've come to call Moore's "barbarians" something else, I call 'em, "Himbos".
Perhaps you might appreciate the term. {g}

As for what the "ladies" do & do not like [these days]?
Well unfortuantely -- but not in all cases -- I find a "Lady" by definition falls within a certain age group; else, there are little if any "Ladies" anymore that I know of, just "Bimbos".
And bimbos are the polar opposite *of* himbos, y'know; so, Moore's "barbarians" may actually be merely "playing to the room", eh?

A few other excerpts if you will, on the subject of what Moore calls the "wimp" status male.

"Many of today's young men seem to have no fight in them at all. Not for them to rescue damsels in distress from the barbarians."

That *fight* has been deliberately bred clean outa today's wimps and it's as simple as that (~as discussed under, "Schools For Sissies" and "Rites of Passage"?).
To even be considered by today's society "civilized", an individual must conform themselves to wimp status, and so the wimps have & are *rewarded* [read: reinforced] accordingly. ;^)

"Furthermore, wimps vote."

Yup, they sure do and so it should come as no surprise we see what we are in the way of politicians, laws, and in every other area of contemporary life.

"As Aristotle pointed out, to the cowardly, bravery will seem more like rashness and foolhardiness than what it really is."

HA!!
Welcome to the future by way of the past.

"Hence political and social issues that require bravery for their solution elicit only hand-wringing and half-measures from the wimps. Wimps are always looking for the easy way out."

That Plato.
What a wise old man he was.

"The world has always had its share of wimps and barbarians. Throughout history and literature they have appeared under the names of rogues, scoundrels, boors, ne'er-do-wells, namby-pambies, fops, and macaroni men, to name a few. What needs explaining is why these two obviously defective character types have become so common, at times seeming like the norm."

Frankly (at this point) I'm more concerned with what happens [next] when the numbers of "barbarians" and "wimps" [far] outnumber all other types.
Methinks the future of the *species* is -- as we said in the military when in a dire situation -- in deep kimchee.

"Needless to say, these sketches are not exhaustive. Barbarians and wimps come in many forms in a society that celebrates Diversity as we do. But all of them remind us that Plato's quandary was a timeless one and is our quandary no less than his. Our civilization cannot be sustained by barbarians or wimps; it needs true men."

And therein lies the conundrum, the very key to accurately predicting our [near] future.

Moore's essay is simply superb, I_T.
It deserves a post all its own.
He seems to have said all that needs saying, IMO.
I sure hope to read *more* of Moore in the future, the man's as sharp as a tack & quite probably the sharpest of the scarce few left.

Listen, should you ever decide to post more essays (like this) please by all means do "ping" me, OK?

...& TIA. ;^)

Yes, indeed, and the welfare system here might explain some of the behaviour of young Irish women - they definitely don't seem to be looking for any serious relationship whenever I try.

Of course 20-somethings like myself don't want to settle down just yet, but a relationship doesn't mean enslavement at that age - but many women don't mind been tied down to the Welfare State.

Sinn Fein are the true leaders of Ireland

Lord give me strength, I'll be arguing with plenty of SinnShadies tonight in my local!

I guess she *thinks* Sinn Fein are the true leaders, because Bertie doesn't know how to be one;

Kevin Myers for Taoiseach! - is that 'West Brit' enough for you, SiobhanShady???

BTW2, my apologies for the way I posted the link; it's actually only one essay - it was a case of my putting heading over sub-heading kinda thing!

Kevin's outraged the liberals of Ireland by referring to these women as 'MOB's' - an acronym for Mothers Of Bastards.

(Eyes bug out) Damn. You'd never hear that term used here, at least in the papers.

Our welfare system is creating benefits-addicted, fatherless families who will be raised in a culture of personal and economic apathy - and from such warped timber, true masts are seldom hewn

On a serious note, he's right. We have that same problem here in the US, and IMO, most of the major crime problems in our cities is from this. I'm curious what the number of fatherless families are in Glasgow, Scotland. The murder rate there is higher than most American cities.

Well she usually doesn't - a study of the parental backgrounds of gang members in London and New York - where they are ahead of us on these matters - will tell you. Mob members usually stressed out Mobs for mothers and absent FoBs for dads

This is nothing new unfortunatly. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a old-style dem senator from New York, wrote about this 30 years ago. He was right on the mark. Kids need their dads.

If the truth be known, I reserve the bitterest of contempt for the sperm donors (I refuse to grace them with the title of "fathers") who sow their seed and then shirk any and all responsibility for the upbringing of the child they so cavalierly created.

As for the liberal hue and cry attacking the messenger for delivering the message, well, nothing new here . . .
