America, I miss you.

This came to me, earlier, and so, i decided to put it into words. See how you all like it.
America, I miss you.
Remember, the country we once Knew, With Landscapes just lovely, and Oceans, so blue, and people who were kind, and who's promises were true? America, oh,America,I miss you.
As kids, we played in the woods, and in the park, From early in the morning, until well after dark. And our parents, they taught us right, and wrong, and how to stand on our own, to be steadfast and strong.
From our earliest years, we were taught that morals mattered,
They made the country strong, and prevented lives from being shattered.
But, somewhere along the way, those things have been forgotten,
Replaced by somethng self-centered, and just totally rotten.
And children who are mean, and have no concern about others,
Be it, their teachers, parents, or sisters and brothers.
In our Government, those who try to do right,
Are called "mean spirited, and always ready to fight".
And our courts seem to defend those who this counrty would weaken,
allowing others to come in, who desire to see our nation shattered and beaten.
When did trying to do right, suddenly become "wrong", and where are the moral principles, that guided this country, for so long?
They have been replaced by an attitude of"just do what you feel",
And if someone else gets hurt along they way, well, that's just part of the deal.
Once in this land, little children were cherished, and those who hurt them, they were rounded up, and then they perished.
but, now, human life has little value, and is of little worth, When a child's life is routinely snuffed out, even before birth.
In Neighborhoods, the children all played together, and each others parents, they all knew,
But now, they cannot play together, 'cause if one gets their felings hurt, the other parents will SUE.
This sure is not the country, I once loved, the country I once knew,
America, Oh America, I miss you.

When did America get "lost" for you? Was it something recent or was it a gradual disappearance taking several decades?
Not necessarily being a smart a**, just curious of your point of view.

Terribly pessimistic assessment, no matter how brilliant the choice of words.
We are on the march to retake America, one that was stolen from us over 60 years ago, and we're doing a pretty damn good job in recent years.

Obviously the person that wrote this does not live in flyover country of places like Oklahoma where traditional values still rule.

Hand-wringing is the new national past-time.
Folks should get over the victim thing, whether from the right or the left.
Do something to improve somebody or something around you.

I agree with your sentiments, the libs/dems/cultural marxists of the last 40 or so years are responsible for the America we're reforming. I was fishing for trolls in my post, asking specifics about when America got "lost".

I do NOT want everyone out there to think that I have "given up", and have given up on this country. BUT, it does seem that we are fighting against great odds. I wrote this(Today, not last Jan 06, I dated it wrong), because Sometimes it is easier for me to put things into words, and I seem to be developing a bit of an art for poetry and writing. I thought it would kind of summarize many of our frustrations with the state of this country.
As for when I feel America was "lost", I do not feel it is lost, BUT,I DO feel that we, as a nation, seem to have "lost our way". I guess it has been over the last 20 or 25 years, that I have noticed this(as I was growing up).
NOW, however is NOT the time, to just throw up our hands. We ALL need to work, to try and turn things around. So that it will once again be safe for children to go to school. To play in the woods. So that the rights of American citizens will not be given a second-class stature, to other, foreign nations. So that criminals will be properly punished in this country, and that those trying to teach right and wrong will be REWARDED, not punished. So that the womb is ONCE AGAIN the safest place for an unborn child, not the MOST DANGEROUS. SO that people can once again have friends, without having to worry of "offending another", and being sued into bankruptcy.
In short, I would like this country to get back to the way it was, when I was a child. We all won a big victory last year. Now, we need to keep on, so that this victory is not nullified, by courts and others, seeking to send this country right into the hands of its enemies.

when Wilhelm Von Der Schliekmeister beat the impeachment rap. I once lied under oath, when I was a young and foolish boy, and paid the penalty.
When he got off, I turned conservative, and THEN my REAL education began.

I disagree... I'm more hopeful for this country than I've been in decades. The pendulum has had its swing and it is coming back.
We don't live with duck and cover drills anymore. People are proud to say they are patriots again. The air and the water are cleaner than they were decades ago. Most people have a standard of living today that a century ago would have been available only to the super-wealthy.
We stand at a turning point in history. Great and good change is afoot.
Cheer up! :-)

PKMom you gotta quit talking about our place so much, you're gonna cause another land run.
Everyone please notice we live in Oklahoma--there are lots of tornadoes here and you wouldn't like it.

I remember Clintstone, I remember liking him. I remember not caring who he was poking on the side, I thought it was kind of cool since Hitlery was such a... well so Hitlery. I thought Jim Quinn (in Pittsburgh) was an A-hole and Rush Limbaugh was a blowhard.
Somehow I was transformed over the last year. Like you I "got" conservative. I saw the Clintonistas for what they are, and saw what they've done. Lying isn't cool whether it's to your wife or congress or a grand jury. I hate liars HATE them. I listen to Quinn everyday (www.warroom.com check his show archives, he's actually very intelligent and well versed in liberalism) Hitlery is still Hitlery, Rush is still a blowhard, but I listen to him anyways. I was changed so easily, that I wonder if I was a conservative all along, just naive.
