Freeper soccer4life posted this Beautiful tapestry and excellent post:
NBCs Tom Brokaw: Well, I Think that the President stepped up his game tonight, and I think that he came with a game plan in mind, and tried to execute it on that stage.
ABCs George Stephanopoulos: I Think President Bush was most effective, is when he brought people into the Oval Office, talked about meeting with the Iraqi Finance Minister, talking about going to the Situation Room and talking to General Tommy Franks, and then, finally, also, bringing up Senator Kerrys Senate record. But you did see, I think, a lot of skill out there tonight.
USA Today: Bush appeared more relaxed and forceful.
The New York Times Katharine Q. Seelye: The format served [President Bush] well. He looked comfortable and sounded confident.
NBCs Tim Russert: George Bush was more energetic.
New York Times columnist David Brooks: So I think overall, the effect of the debate will to be to give the Bush campaign a boost.
Columbus, OH Undecided Voter Lisa on CNN: I was kind of on the border, but after hearing both candidates tonight, I think that Ive kind of swayed over to Bushs side.
The Weekly Standards Stephen Hayes: I would say that President Bush won the debate, and for me, it was actually a rather decisive win.

(I formatted the above for this thread - here are my, Danno's, comments:)
We ought to add tp the above list that Fox News gets caught going the wrong way and ends up with major egg on their face:
FoxNews Brit Hume After Debate Panel: Bush Sucked
Then this thread needs to be emailed to Roger Ailes and all the fox email show addresses. We'll see if Fox tries to fix things over the weekend and on Monday and maybe fire Bill Kristol...
Yeah. Foxnews was probably the most unbalanced coverage of the night. Even Fred Barnes totally dropped the ball. I'm starting to feel like maybe liberal bias really is just an institutional thing in the media?
But someone once said that Republicans tend to eat their own...
I think theyre trying so hard to counter the image that theyre conservative... that theyve now become totally softball on democrats. Still... its good to have a network who will at least report on CBS and ABC's bias.
Wrote Fox News/Britt on their 'calls' re Bush speech at RNC Convention and his first debate. On both occasions; the 'fair and balanced' seemed to be getting confused with the PC equal-playing- field, type of analysis. (Krauthammer set them straight at the convention;but not there for post debate)
Offered as well, that maybe John Gibson should be sitting with Brit and the gang. Might keep them in shape and keep Britt awake. (Does he take allergy medicine or what?)
Sick of this; from Brit and 'Fox' no less.
I think that is the case as well; O'Reilly has his share now. . .when the criticisms were flying; I thought they would stick to their principles - 'rise above it'.
They did not; they started swimming and doing the back stroke.
Of course, they have been rewarded with ratings that put have put them over the top. . .so rather than thinking it is 'fair and balanced' people are tuning into; Brit/Fox et al probably think it is their new 'equal playing field' scoring on political analysis.
John Gibson is holding is own however.
Cavuto ripped Kerry a new one during their interview. It was like an Ambush.
Perfect letter and perfect way to end this wonderful night.
Good work.
Fox is heady on the recent ratings success. But are we learning it has all been calculated marketing? Because if you truly believe in what you are saying you don't just flip like that. You are passionate for your position and don't easily cozy up to the enemy out of 'professional' respect. Do they feel intense scruiny now and feel it is necessary to go out of their way to show they are not rightists?
Blacks recognize this first hand when they see white americans kissing their butt because they want to show they are not prjudiced. Fox does the same thing and it is phoney baloney.
But I don;t know if there is a fix for it because if you truly are ocnservative you don't flip like that. Is this exposing Fox, generally, for what it really is?
When CNN first came out they were thought to be fair and balanced, believe it or not. They buckled under PC pressure over the years and they are probably more liberal than the alphabet networks. When Bill Maher first started out he was almost refreshing and seemed like he actually might not be PC. We have found out otherwise. Bill O'Reilly generally was though of as right leaning, tired of the MSM bull, we know better now.
Is Fox News following the same inevitable path?
Good to hear that; I love Neil. . .
Have been wondering the same lately. I do remember that it was mentioned by 'Fox'; Brit et al; that Murdoch/Fox News was supporting Kerry. It had been mentioned on Drudge, I think. They assured us it would not impact their programming!
Could be 'that' or that, in combination with the recent assaults from their peers. Might have made advertisers nervous as well.
More likely, Murdoch having at least the bigger impact here - but whatever, the change of heart is definitely showing. They will deny it, of course.
Don't like it; but it IS a Catch 22. They still are the best; and if they lose their original audience; they will just serve the Liberals. And all too gladly, perhaps.
Many of the viewers that have taken Fox News over the top in ratings are sorely disappointed in the coverage of Bush's debate victory last night, especially Brit Hume's gang/panel immediately after the debate. More than upset at what has been going on with Fox News opinion lately, please read this embarrassing (for Fox News) thread started on Freerepublic.com after the debate:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/1239785/posts?page=6
Please forward these concerns to Roger Ailes. We have loved our Fox but many viewers are defecting to MSNBC which actually gave a more accurate assessment of the debate last night, declaring Bush the winner. The thread above shows an interesting tapestry from media outlets all over the country that recognize BUSH the winner, yet 'fair and balanced' FOX basically said Bush failed once again.
People are pissed boys and girls...people are pissed.

Rupert Murdoch has gone on record as supporting John Kerry?
No. . .scratch that. It can't be. . .and certainly not Ailes (does not make sense when I wrote that; and less, since I have had some sleep) but did read something a while back re Fox News and Kerry; thought it was from Drudge; feels more like 'Sludge' now. . .
. . .in any event Danno; you make great points; hope many Fox 'loyalists' let them hear; viewers can change as easily as the opinions at Fox News. And I will keep looking for 'whatever'.
There is also a really long thread about Fox News' biased debate analysis at this link:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1239971/posts?q=1&&page=1#1
Fred Barnes is backing down on The Beltway Boys. He said he had time to "read" the transcript and has changed his mind. He now thinks that Bush won the debate. Those angry letters last night must have sent a message.
