This, from the prof who clintoon said most influenced him:

The National parties and their presidential candidates, with the Eastern
Establishment assiduously fostering the process behind the scenes, moved
closer together and nearly met in the center with almost identical
candidates and platforms, although the process was concealed as much as
possible, by the revival of obsolescent or meaningless war cries and slogans
(often going back to the Civil War). ... The argument that the two parties
should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and
the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire
and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical,
so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election
without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.

Either
party in office becomes in time corrupt, tired, unenterprising, and
vigorless. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if
necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor,
approximately the same basic policies.

History of the World in Our Time (New York: Macmillan, 1966), pp.
1247-1248.]

Sadly, the law expects one to play nice when the burglar/rapist/murderer manages to flee before being shot. The law needs to be changed.

Hang in there, gran. Your fears are well founded but I still have hope that our system will eventually provide the means with which to bring the guilty to justice. Certainly the Congress has shown little inclination to rise above the "good old boy" club it has become, winking at outrageous behavior and bloated, pork barrel, incumbent protection legislation day after day.

Swervie... I'd give my only elderly butt if you're right. You make a little sense to me, and I can see your points and maybe I can wait long enough to see the proof of the pudding, but I'll tell ya, it better be soon.

I have my doubts that the Dems on the Intelligence Committee wouldn't be squawking by now if what you say is true tho. It would be really interesting if we can find out who leaked this. It might go a long way in explaining things. Do you think we ever will?

They have until Nov..if not by then....? Up their keister for Easter.. :(

Listening to Laura Ingraham this morning. She has played excerpts from CBS and CNN. Shockingly, Wolf Blitzer got it right and nailed Lanny Breuer (Berger's mouthpiece).

Unsurprisingly, Dan Rather led off the CBS broadcast with something approximating "Sandy Berger, an advisor to the Kerry campaign, resigned today after a carefully orchestrated leak ...."

Were it not for the facilitating Dan Rathers of the world, the corrupt politicians could not find enough rocks to hide under. I think that like the efforts which have slapped down entertainers who cross the line, actively letting newscast sponsors know our thoughts could cost the Rathers their jobs.

Naturally, the links says "CSPAN is experiencing difficulty with streaming video." I'm gonna try to get the Senate feed on the TV. BBL.

Dan Rather and CBS are a complete joke and their lack of rating prove it

Yes there are some who hang onto Dan's every word .. but they are also the same people who if you brought them face to face with WMD in Iraq, would still believe Dan when he says there are none

Well, Dan and company are not doing the CBS organization any good. Shareholders should take note.

The CBS organization allows it to happen .. aren't they also owned by Simmon and Shuckster?

Aren't we all sick of living by the rule of the land and what our own morality tells us to live by?

Why do we still feel forced to do it when I'd say 98% of our government are scum? They have no rules..they make them up as they please and as they go along.. and they demand respect from us?

You know, I raised my family with better morals. All we have to do is think back over the last few years. All the people in government that have gotten away with stuff. How about that jerk from Calif that was accused of killing his girlfriend? (How soon we forget their interchangeable names.) What was his face? C-something. As far as I'm concerned he got away with murder. Then there's old Chappaquiddick Ted. How many could we name if we had a little contest?

It's getting beyond sickening, you know? How can we continue to respect these people? They don't even feel embarrassed anymore..

You know there are a lot of people that can't forget Waco.. That was telling right there how things were falling apart. Boy, what eight years can do to screw up a half way decent country, but look how they crucified Nixon. What he did wasn't right, but what old Burglar did was just a faux-pa? (pardon my French, but lets not ever forget "them", twisted sisters all)

I need stress relief today..:)

Well, grannie, the Berger case is just beginning. We don't know how it will turn out, yet.

Democracy is a rowdy undertaking and always has been. I grew up in Louisiana listening to my folks talk of ole Huey P Long, who was shot in the state capitol building. Louisiana, like other states, is a morass of corruption and graft. But, when folks just get plain fed up, they boot them out of office.

It is the same on the Fed level. Whether you like him or not, Newt accomplished great things in office. Welfare is no longer an entitlement, congress has to live under the same laws they pass and no member of congress can vote by proxy. I never thought I would live to see the day that this would come to pass.

Keep the faith, grannie, as we are making substantial inroads. As Rush says, we always just naturally think we live in the worst of times.

Take a deep breath and contemplate sunny Florida. Warm sunshine and gentle breezes. Soft, sandy beaches ... chads floating by, Democrat lawyers everywhere great sunsets, flowers everywhere, even in winter ...

"But, when folks just get plain fed up, they boot them out of office."

Oh yes, and how long does that take, and what if the media is convincing more than half the country how good these people are? Yep, I noticed that all we have to do is wave our magic wand and overcome all the laws they've written to protect themselves and just boot them out of office..lol lol.

You're talking about the days when the media considered themselves watch-dogs. Now they are Lap-dogs.. and I mean that term in every derogatory way it can be meant.

The days of Huey Long.. are long-gone. We are living in dangerous times now, and the past times of Huey Long are long gone. Politics have always been rowdy? You call this rowdy?

Sorry, I call it filthy and treacherous. The world is much too small today to play around with Rowdy politics. We need all the stability we can get.

Yeah, Newt wasn't a bad guy...smart guy too. Must have been those Rowdy politics that did him him, eh?

Sheeeeeeeeeesh..
