Jerry Seinfeld is by no means the most political or controversial actor/comedian out there, but when he took the stage at Duke University's commencement ceremony, it ultimately caused a chorus of "boos" and pro-Palestinian chants, as well as a walkout by students.
Seinfeld, who is Jewish, is the parent of two Duke students and an active supporter of the university. He has been vocal in his support for Israel following the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7. His wife also funded a pro-Israel protest at UCLA last week. When Seinfeld was announced as this year's commencement speaker, some students expressed opposition to his appearance over his support of Israel, and warned that there would be a display of opposition at the commencement ceremony.

I hope those who walked out didn’t get their certificates, were then ignored at the ceremony. Let them pick them up at the office after some several months delay, if ever.

Seinfeld has always been fairly apolitical, though his friend and business partner Larry David has been an avowed man of the left and a fairly deranged Trump hater. I wonder if they’re starting to see things differently now.
Since the pro-Hamas group has taken down the American flag and put up the Palestinian flag in its place numerous times, it is pro-Hamas against everybody else.

I watched Seinfeld being introduced, and his commencement speech in its entirety (it was hilarious!). If there was any dissent at all, it was negligible.

Duke’s Jewish student enrollment is a tad less than 10% — 1,700 out of 18,000 total enrollment. Surely the walkers-out had noticed that the university was already accepting of Jewish students. I hope they were denied their diplomas.
