Police in Tennessee said a homeowner who shot two intruders and killed one of them over the weekend will not face any charges.
Police in Murfreesboro said in a news release that two masked men forced their way into a home on Friday night just after 8 p.m.
The men, who were both armed, tased the family’s dog upon entering the residence.
Police said the two then held a teenage boy at gunpoint.
The news release said the two intruders were not only masked but were also wearing gloves.

Only if you don’t know The Rules of (Gun)Fight Club:
1 - It’s never too early to STFU after the shooting is over.
2 - Rule 1 applies to all persons at the scene, official or otherwise.
3 - If you feel absolutely compelled to say anything, make sure the words used indicate a deadly threat to you by the person now leaking precious bodily fluids & your shots were intended to stop the threat by that person.
4 - It is now definitely time to STFU except the word “lawyer”.

Yes, as soon as the guy is no longer able to pose a threat you must stop shooting.
Umm, that does assume that someone can determine which bullets were fired first. :)
Also, if it can be interpreted that he was attempting to rise and pose a threat — blast away.

Maybe 12 gauge with 00 buck shot hit the perm. I didn’t’t notice the type of firearm.
“Double tapping could be a legal issue” - yep ... if you do it like that dude in the Mexican restaurant a few months back. He shot the perp who eventually went down - so far, so good. But he then walked up to the grounded perp and perforated him again from about two feet away. Not good. A hold thru an eye socket coupled with much of the back of the skull turned to mush will certainly cause a coroner to label that shot as a coup de gras which is probably illegal in most states.
The moral of this story: if you feel that additional shots are necessary, do it from about the same distance as the original. Stand back and empty your clip if you feel so inclined.
Or just yell out, “It’s Comin’ right for us!” before blasting.

Actually, masks and gloves are equally effective at stopping bullets as they are at stopping COVID.
