"The baby was crying, so we came back and killed her too"

The unimaginable killing spree in Itamar: After they massacred the Fogel couple and two of their children, the terrorists went into the bedroom and killed Hades, three months old

Lilac Shoval, our correspondent for military affairs, published on: 15.03.2012

The high school student Hakim Awad and the student Amjad Awad, who are affiliated with the Popular Front organization, returned to their routine after the massacre feeling that their secret was kept with them. The Shin Bet's investigation shows that a few days before the murder, the two began planning the Itamar attack. They asked an activist named Muhammad Said Awad to supply them with weapons, but he answered in the negative. At noon on the day of the attack, the attackers decided that the moment had come - and on the evening of Saturday, March 11, 2011, they left for the settlement when they are equipped with knives, scissors to cut the fence and hoods to cover their faces.

At approximately 21:00 the two killers climbed the settlement fence and jumped over it. They walked about 400 meters in a tangled forest, until they reached the first row of houses. The two broke into the home of the Chai family, which is next to the home of the Fogel family, but discovered that it was empty and stole a shortened M-16 rifle, cartridges and a vest from it, and continued towards their destination.

When they approached the Fogel house, the murderers noticed through the window that there were children staying in the house. As soon as they entered, they stabbed Yoav (11) and Elad (4) to death. After that they went to the room where the Fogels were sleeping in their bed with the baby Hadas (3 months), and turned on the light. The parents woke up and tried to fight the terrorists, but in vain. Father Udi (37) was stabbed to death, and mother Ruthi (35) was shot during the struggle with a weapon stolen from the house next door.

The terrorists left the house after murdering the parents and a couple of their children, but decided to go back inside in order to steal another weapon. Amjad entered the parents' room, and murdered little Hadas "because she was crying", as he explained in his investigation. After that, the two debated whether to continue murdering residents in more houses, but Hakim managed to convince Amjad that it was time to withdraw back from the settlement.

"Shocking coldness"

At the time of the murder, there were two other children in the Fogel family home: Roi (8) and Yishai (2.5). Hakim apparently noticed Roy, but he hurried out of the house. Amjad said in his investigation that "if I had seen the other two children, I would have killed them too."

After the murder, the killers returned to the village of Awarta, which is only one kilometer away from Itamar. They went to the house of Hakim's uncle, an activist of the Popular Front named Saladin Awad, and shared with him the details of the act. The latter helped the two hide the weapons with which they carried out the massacre, and later they were found in Ramallah. The uncle even helped them burn their clothes that had been redeemed with the blood of the Vogel family. Several other family members shared in the secret of the act, who acted in an attempt to cover up the suspects, but finally, on April 5 and 10, the two were arrested in raids by the Dovdevan unit. Among the detainees were also six other suspects, who apparently helped the terrorists after the attack.

The Shin Bet clarify that the murder of the Fogel family was planned...

Palestinians celebrate and then reluctantly denounce Itamar murders

By Jennifer Rubin

March 14, 2011

It is hard to conceive of a more grisly murder. On shabbat, Palestinian terrorists broke into the home of residents of the West Bank town of Itamar and stabbed to death five members of the family, including a 3-month old baby. The initial reaction of Palestinians was grotesque, if not predictable. Ynet news reported, “Gaza residents from the southern city of Rafah hit the streets Saturday to celebrate the terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar where five family members were murdered in their sleep, including three children. Residents handed out candy and sweets, one resident saying the joy ‘is a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.’ ”

The reaction of the Palestinian Authority was equally predictable. On Saturday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a “condemnation” that in essence blamed Israel for the attack, as the Jerusalem Post reported:

In a statement released by his office, Abbas “stressed his rejection and condemnation of all violence directed against civilians, regardless of who was behind it or the reason for it.”

As if that wishy-washy comment were not bad enough, “Abbas added that ‘violence produces violence and what is needed is to speed up a just and comprehensive solution to the conflict.’ Earlier on Saturday, the Palestinian Authority said that there was no evidence of Palestinian involvement in the terror attack in Itamar.”

That was a bit much to ignore, even for the Obama administration. The White House issued a statement that revealed its frustration with the PA: “ ‘There is no possible justification for the killing of parents and children in their home,’ The White House said. ‘We call on the Palestinian Authority to unequivocally condemn this terrorist attack and for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to be held accountable.’ ”

The only other time I've read of such atrocities was Nazis and Ukrainians killing Jews during WWII.

No punishment is harsh enough for people who do these horrible things. They are devoid of humanity. There is something innate in humans, a built in protective instinct to protect children, whatever race or creed. It is built into our DNA from conception. These killers lack that instinct. They are truly animals.

It’s too bad some Israeli’s didn’t open up on the lowlifes handing out candy after the murders. I wouldn’t have a problem with every one of them being shot dead with candy in their hand. The fact that we give these scumbags money makes me sick.

They should have executed EVERYONE that helped them...the uncle, the neighbors, and their entire bloodline. Let the two murders rot in prison knowing that their act killed everyone in their family. Not one drop of their DNA will continue. THAT is a death sentence.

Or Russians starving Ukrainian families to death during that genocide, and forcibly deporting others to be worked to death in Siberia, and the USSR doing the same thing to Ethiopians when I was younger...taking all the grain from their client state because the USSR wasn’t able to feed itself even when it controlled the breadbasket Ukraine’s farmlands. Leaving babies without anything to eat.
Now Russia’s birthrate is so low they’be been kidnapping Ukrainian kids...killing two birds with one stone.

It's the unknown holocaust: Holodomor.

The Holodomor engineered starvation was the greatest humanitarian tragedy until WWII.

Walter Durante the New York Times reporter in Russia refused to report on it. Durante was a communist and Stalinist synchophant. The New York Time never reported on the Holomdomor because it would reflect badly on Stalin. Everything Walter Durante reported was glowing tripe.
