In this funny video, the Golden retriever dog is seen dragging its human dad out of the room and shutting the door behind him for rushing the food its grandma is eating. I know the dog is trained to do this but it is so freaking adorable!
Nice. But it’s inordinate to raise animals to human status by referring to people as their parents. It’s not factual
It’s the insanity of the day.
I think there are a lot of things I’d worry more about.
grandmother’s best friend.
It’s suggesting the reality that most dogs are better human beings than most human beings.
I agree. “Pet parents” and “fur babies” yech. And I love dogs, I have a wonderful Staffy now.
“ I think there are a lot of things I’d worry more about.”
Im a surgical nurse. It’s how I have to think It’s a symptom. It has an etiology and an effect and is attached to a larger Process. In this case the lack of children from birth control.
And it’s an unGodly coping mechanism
It’s not healthy
I have a house full of animals. Grew up like that. I love them. But I’m not their parent
They have none of our vices, and all of our virtues.
That’s wonderful!! I love the animal things you post.
I’m with you...they are PETS...even if they are like family
Isn’t there one in a commercial or a movie that fetches his owner a beer from the fridge?
Those are great! Thanks.
I don’t think God really cares. It’s a sign of a sweet, genuine feeling toward a creature, and I would think that He would be all in favor of that. I think it speaks to whatever is pure, noble and lovely.
Not everyone is as terribly exacting as you are - some people express their finer natures in simpler ways.
“I don’t think God really cares. It’s a sign of a sweet, genuine feeling toward a creature, and I would think that He would be all in favor of that. I think it speaks to whatever is pure, noble and love…”
Ya. People do that. They ascribe to God what they think and want and believe. There’s nothing down that road but more expectations
The theologians that studied, prayed and pored through the Bible in its original language, called on the Holy Spirit now when they say what God would want they study and confer they don’t imagine and come up with their own ideas
The catechism says- and with the Biblical references listed below, the same Bible used by Protestant Christians and Judaism minus some books
2418 It is contrary to human dignity to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly. It is likewise unworthy to spend money on them that should as a priority go to the relief of human misery. One can love animals; one should not direct to them the affection due only to persons.
Notes:
195 Cf. Gen 128-31.
196 Cf. CA 37-38.
197 Cf. Mt 6:26; Dan 3:79-81.
198 Cf. Gen 2:19-20; 9:1-4.
Thanks; but I think I’d rather spend my time with an animal lover than with a martinet like you. The former seem to know a lot more about Real Life, human AND animal.
Again, I have a house quite blessed with pets, dogs, cats, a pair of lovebirds. And I love all of them and them, us.
I’m just not their parent, and they are not my children. I think God’s okay with that, as the theologians point out.
And they are very happy with it. Animals like order. They thrive on it. Watching all creatures great and small just now in fact. 3rd season started three weeks ago
I’ll duck out of this the same way I came in: There are far more important things to worry about.
I think I’ve even seen one person on this very board who stated that one of his or her ‘grandchildren’ was a cat or dog.
This is just something people say. It’s not a vicious, subversive attempt to undermine us culturally - like demanding that an obvious male be called ‘she’ is.
Unless they are ‘PETA’, types - in which case they would ‘own’ no animals - these people aren’t thinking of their pets as human persons.
It’s just something innocuous that sweet people, to whom their animals mean a great deal, might say.
It’s not important.
I never said it was important. So let it go
Well, you called it ‘unGodly’, so I assumed you thought it was important.
Good Night.
