Actress and former Hallmark star Candace Cameron Bure is pushing back after giving an interview to the Wall Street Journal on Monday in which she signaled her new network would stick to traditional values and shun same-sex storylines.
"I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core," she told the outlet, provoking social media backlash from celebrities, including actress Hilarie Burton ("One Tree Hill"), who labeled her a "bigot," and teen YouTuber JoJo Siwa, who called her statement "rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."
Bure, who rose to fame as a child star on "Growing Pains," is the sister of actor and evangelical minister Kirk Cameron ("Growing Pains"). She left the Hallmark Channel earlier this year. "It basically is a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership," she told the Journal.
In April, the actress joined family-oriented cable network Great American Family as chief content officer, highlighting her desire to cultivate family-friendly content as an alternative to Hollywood's anti-American and oftentimes anti-Christian offerings.
"I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose," Bure said at the time. "GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family."
The actress told the Journal she is seeking a more faith-driven and thought-provoking style of storytelling.

Sounds like a radical.
But will cable systems carry it, or will it be deplatformed?
Traditional marriage.
A mom and a dad...
How radical and extreme.
It’s incredible how things have changed in this country.
It’s now considered bigoted if you make a positive statement that you want to make family friendly movies and TV shows.
These critics make it sound as if it’s not optional as to whether to have homosexual story lines. They make it sound as if it’s just required, or just expected , that you would have LGBT story lines.
I’m just waiting for the romantic comedy which features a transgender character, Who falls in love with another transgender character, but when they meet , neither one realizes that the other person is also transgender. And then hilarity ensues because, after all , this is a romantic comedy storyline.
Sarcasm....

So, in sorting through the rhetoric on this board over the years, the message seems to be:
* It’s not ok for a woman to be an astronaut, the CEO of a company, a scientist, a firefighter, a physician, or any other profession.
* It IS ok for a woman to be a Hollywood actress, if she says things you agree with.
(Sorry about the bad english.)
It is perfectly OK, Sweetheart.
But affirmative action getting there isn’t.
The only US citizens it is legal to discriminate against are straight, white males and discrimination against them is required by law so 98 pound girlies can become firefighters.
The “tolerant” liberals who promote moral degenerate lifestyles, won’t tolerate her promoting a traditional moral lifestyle.
“Rules for thee, not for me”.
I learned a long time ago to respond differently when I stated my support for traditional marriage.
I now respond by stating that, as a believer, I am listening to what The Bible says about homosexuality, and it being a sin. When I die, I will not answer to any “community” on earth for what I stood for....I will only answer to God. My last line is always that their argument is not with me, it’s with God. If they can get God to change His mind, and let the world know He has, then I’ll rethink my position as well.
"it's not OK for females to replace men in professions that require physical size, strength, endurance, and ferocity, such as the combat forces of the United States, firefighters, and cops on a beat"
"It is OK for females to take any job they are capable of successfully accomplishing - and it is OK for women to bear children and assist their husbands and rearing them"
See? - fixed it!
Thanks. 1620 for INFINITY.
Pass the word for wholesome programming.
I don’t know how you’ve come to that conclusion. I am a female professional who has read this board for twenty years. I haven’t observed it being said women should not be professionals. I’ve seen some straightforward assessments that there are some professions for which women may not be well-suited and that we should not pretend that they are, ie. a 110 pound woman probably shouldn’t be a firefighter who likely could be called upon to lift someone twice her size to get them out of a burning building. I’ve seen disgruntlement when women are promoted into high visibility positions over others who may be more qualified. But I don’t believe this board says women should not be professionals.
Feminists want to promote how women bring more sensitivity to professions that have previously been male dominated. But you have to look at both sides of the coin and also acknowledge how these different sensibilities affect the job. That’s the type of discussion I’ve seen on this board, and I think it’s a fair one.
As for CCB, she’s a rare example of an actress who has actually put some thought into her position and broken free from the crowd in the face of opposition. Why shouldn’t the board celebrate that?
As for astronauts, CEOs, scientists, or physicians ... if candidates were selected strictly for merit, those jobs would be overwhelmingly male dominated.
Bull**** !
.
In 2022 America you’re branded a freak for upholding traditional moral and family values. The deviants are now regarded as the norm. We’re truly living in the Bizzarro World!
