Nah, to an EV owner, the four worst words you can hear are “Your battery is kaput.”

They gave him a new car exactly like he had.
You really can’t ask for more than that.

Tesla is shipping him a new car, identical to the one that was totaled.
No matter what business you are in there are going to acccidents and mistakes. The keys are: How many, and how does the company respond.
As far as responding, looks like Tesla is owning up the what happened.

The shop totaled his expensive status symbol car?
Wow, the therapy will be long and difficult but eventually with time and patience I'm sure he'll learn to cope, though the pain will always be there, at least a little.
Wait, Tesla is replacing it with an identical brand new car? Hmmm. So this is news because ...?

Actually this story is a great ad for Tesla & the Tesla Service Center. The employee (former employee?) and by extension the Tesla Service Center was responsible for “totaling” the car. Tesla stepped up with a replacement without much m ore than a phone call, according to the story.
I would be willing to bet golf tees against tennis balls that Ford, GM or Chrysler or what the hell ever they are now would do the same without Jeff going to court.

The fact it was a Tesla has nothing to do with the story other than EVs get totaled in wrecks more often than ICE cars. That’s due to the battery, which is easy to ruin in collisions that hit the side of the car. Dealers have coverage for the eventuality. Anyone who finances any car should have gap insurance until they don’t owe more than the car is worth.
I’ll have to ask my agent whether EVs are more expensive to insure due to the ease of totaling them.
