Despite the fact that Ray Epps, like a January 6 Forrest Gump, was showing up on multiple videos urging folks to go INTO the Capitol as well as being at the forefront of the protests, many politicians and media people vociferously deny Epps was in any way acting as an instigator. For everybody else, if you were just standing outside the Capitol Building on January 6 munching on an oatmeal cookie, that automatically made you a MONSTER who at the very least should be hounded out of your job and possibly be subject to severe legal prosecution. The one exception seems to be Ray Epps whom Adam Kinzinger and others in Congress and the media treat as a gentle Child of God who is above reproach. And should you encounter the Blessed Ray Epps and ask him about his January 6 participation, you will soon be visited by FBI agents who will hilariously deny even knowing who Ray Epps is.
Oh, and remember Ray Epps himself supposedly testified to the January 6 Committee that he was NOT working as an undercover fed that day. However, the transcript of his testimony has NOT been released although the Chair of that Committee, Benny Thompson, has promised that at some point in the future that testimony might be released... or maybe not.

Pretend you are a dog. You know your owner/parent has a cookie in his pocket, despite all denials. You just have to find a way to get close enough to grab it.
An informant is NOT an undercover federal agent; they are not generally a federal employee, they do not need to hold a clearance or pass a background check. They can be (and often are) felons, or anyone with the right connections to collect valuable intel.
