Curtiss-Wright's Defense Solutions division, a leading supplier of modular open systems approach (MOSA) solutions engineered to succeed, today introduced the Parvus® DuraCOR® Pi, the embedded industry’s first Raspberry Pi (RPi) powered mission computer for defense and aerospace applications.

Curtis-Wright has put together a Raspberry Pi package for military use that is very rugged.

It basically turns a cheap Pi-based board into a rugged PLC.

I always thought the Pi ecosystem was a good fit for aerospace and mil uses... I'm shocked that the industry has adopted a 35$ processor board for serious uses.

If they had put the specs out there and asked for bids the devices would cost a huge amount...certainly not 35$ each....they went off-the-shelf.

I prefer a passive Pi. I don’t want my Pi’s weaponized.

Interesting. I know astronomy techies have been using them for years to build controllers for various add-ons to their scope hardware, they have always raved about how little they spent.

Yeah, I have a friend “in” to that. (He used to do terrain and target analysis developmental work for TI weapons computing!)

Great. Can’t even get a Pi 4 in 8gb RAM model right now and 4gb models are hard to find and mostly only available as part of a kit with a bunch of stuff you don’t need. The 2gb RAM model is pretty abundant.
