Moving out of US?
international living ^ | 12-1-21 | Founded on Purpose

Are other Freepers looking at or considering leaving the US? No problem dying for my country, not sure if my country is willing to die with me. The older folks will stand, the younger?

Be blessed! I can handle the flak, so bring it. We are apparently run by non voted in intelligence groups. They failed to do a cognitive test on Biden, not an accident. Oh ya, Trump lost the election, what a joke.

Move to a deep red state instead.

Yeah, I’m old, not going anywhere. I just hope I’m gone before we go the way of Venezuela.

The big problem when it comes to moving is where? As bad as it is here, not sure there is a better place?

I live in NY City. I’m already outside of the USA.

Probably, not sure that a civil war is far away. Then we have Biden starting shit with Russia and China. Pathetic!

“Move to a deep red state instead.”

Yes.

Kind of a no-brainer to first move out of Wisconsin for starters into a red state and then reassess. The U.S. is still the best country in the world.

Been considering it for years - 2-5 years from retirement, but not really sure what country would be ‘better’ - can find ‘cheaper’ plenty of places, but is Mexico ‘better’? is Vietnam ‘better’? (climate probably would be)

maybe they are better in some ways - but despite all of its (USA) flaws, not sure which country I could move to that has most of the modern life amenities I am used to, and is safe for Americans to live.

Interested in other real-life experiences of countries folks have relocated to and how they found it once they did.

Dementia Joe wouldn’t start a fight with Russia or China. I bet Putin/Xi would happily take him on and clobber him.

I have not yet applied for it, but I am qualified for Hungarian citizenship. And Hungary is a well-run, conservative country.

But here’s the thing. One or two elections can turn everything upside down. After all, the United States was once a well-run, conservative country.

I ask myself what country could I move to where I can take my arsenal (which is at the bottom of the lake, BTW, small boat accident). Anyway, after asking that question, I usually wind up realizing I am here to stay.

I agree with what you say but I don’t think that moving to another country is the answer. Our forebears seem to have endured more than we have so to honor them I will never give up.
Pray that the court does the right thing in their latest Roe vs Wade case.

Also, wouldn’t mind being an international nomad for 5-10 years after I retire and not have to make any declarations/decisions about which country is ‘better’ for the long haul. Things get bad, pickup and move to a different country

There is nowhere to go. You need to move somewhere you don’t have to interface with the Socialists like a small town in Appalachia. You would be surprised how insulated we are from it.

I agree with our other FRiends. If you are weary, move to a deep red state and rest up. Duty will call and you'll be needed. Florida, South Dakota, South Carolina all come to mind. God bless.

If not here then where?
If not now then when?
If not us then who?

Stay strong.
No where to go to hide from the current and coming struggles.

I understand exactly how you feel. I'm an old fart, so relocating won't solve much for me. I did investigate possible places to go. Poland is very American-friendly. The language would be a problem, although most people in Polish cities speak English. Costa Rica is another possibility, but that place caters to the wealthy.

There are places in South America that have emptied out and are walking north, so there would be room to grow there. Of course, people want to leave for valid reasons.

The United States turns out to be the very best place to live. Even now there are people all over the world quite literally dying to get here. It is better to dig in and fight a shooting civil war than go anyplace else. Push back actively. Voting and blogging aren't going to help much.
