Speaking to Martha MacCallum this week, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who served under the Trump administration, slammed Biden over the way his administration has been handling the military pullout, which was first conceived by former President Donald Trump. Pompeo, the former CIA Director and Secretary of State, revealed what Trump told the Taliban in meetings and how the U.S. would withdraw its forces from the country.
“I don’t know exactly what they are doing, but we had conditions attached to how we were thinking about this withdrawal — I was part of those negotiations,” Pompeo said. “I was also in the room when President Trump made very clear to Mullah Baradar, the senior Taliban negotiator, that if you threatened an American, if you scared an American, certainly if you hurt an American, that we would bring all American power to bear to make sure that we went to your village, to your house. We were very clear about the things we were prepared to do to protect American lives. And indeed, since we began those negotiations back in February of 2020, there wasn’t a single American killed by the Taliban. We had established a deterrence model.”
“I hope we haven’t lost that for the Americans who are still on the ground there in Kabul,” said Pompeo. “And then the last thing, Martha, we had begun the reduction of our operations in that embassy. I ordered a drawdown in the embassy in Kabul that took place. We were continuing to reduce our risk and our footprint there. I hope that they continued down that path...

My guess is that the incoming administration saw what Trump was doing and knee-jerk reversed course, just like they did to so many other things Trump was doing (Keystone, border wall, etc.)

Biden was part of one of the Leaders that is responsible for Afghanistan. His eight years and eight months. It was Obama/ Biden that called Afghanistan The Good War and pumped tons of money into it.

When Trump said he would bring American forces to the Mullah’s house, the Taliban leaders knew he meant it.
He had already unapologetically wiped al-Rimi and al-Baghdadi from the map.
Trump plowed over and got his way with Nato, the UN, Kim Jung-Un, most countries in South America, Mexico, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, thumbed his nose at the middle east by moving the Israeli embassy, and threatened to blow various countries off the map.
Trump has more testosterone in his little finger than the past two Presidents had in their whole bodies...combined.
How much you want to bet some of those cretins packed up and moved once they left the negotiating table?

Yep, every day for the “Biden” administration has been Seinfeldesque “opposite day” — whatever the Trump administration had been doing with regard to any issue had to be wrong/bad/inept/racist/sexist/homophobic, so the new administration would reverse course. Someone must have wised him up to the love of Anniversaries for staging events by these Muzzies, Benghazi being the best example, and he changed the date.
It seems he forgot about maybe talking to the Taliban and warning them of consequences if they did not honor the agreement. I suppose just to do the opposite of what President Trump did....because that how Biden's mind works.
Remember, the only reason that Biden was chosen as VP was because of his international experience, something that Obama had “0” knowledge.
