Colorado Governor Turns Back Clock, Signing Bill Nullifying Preemption

Colorado gun rights took a leap backward over the weekend as Democrat Gov. Jared Polis signed legislation essentially gutting the Centennial State’s firearms preemption law, thus allowing local municipalities to establish their own gun control laws.

It returns Colorado to a checkerboard situation where neighboring jurisdictions might have different, perhaps conflicting gun laws that confuse, and according to some critics, possibly even ensnare gun owners into situations where they might be violating a local law by crossing an invisible jurisdictional line.

At the same time, Gov. Polis signed another measure establishing an “Office of Gun Violence Prevention,” whose job will be to coordinate and promote efforts to reduce “gun violence.” The bill provides $3 million in funding for this new office.

According to the Denver Post, Senate Bill 21-256 “reverses a ban that keeps local governments (towns, cities and counties) from creating their own gun regulations.

“But local jurisdictions can only make ordinances that are stricter, not more lenient, than state law,” the newspaper explained. “Any regulations currently in place that are less restrictive are effectively overturned. A person can only face a criminal penalty for violating local laws if they knew about them or reasonably should have known. The new law also puts concealed-carry requirements back in the hands of the state so they’re consistent, but it does allow local governments to decide where those guns can be carried.”

This is a horrible law which, of course, will mostly affect lawful gun owners.

The most idiotic comment from the article:

The Wall Street Journal quoted Boulder Mayor Sam Weaver asserting, “In theory, if we didn’t have this law, you could go buy an assault weapon, and then walk across the street and shoot a bunch of students.”

Ok fellow Coloradans - time for a state constitutional amendment that ensures only 1 set of gun laws for the entire state, does away with these red flag laws, magazine bans, and prevents the state from interfering with home production of firearms and ammunition.

Colorado's transition to the Socialist dark side began with the agreeing to All Mail-in voting which opened the door to massive corruption and vote fraud.

It will be very difficult to defeat especially with the CO Sec. State making vote fraud investigations illegal.

It’s apparent both the legislative houses, judiciary and the governor all want this.

The commie bastards.

But it takes all 3.

So...any municipality in Colorado could rightfully remove the illegal laws banning fully automatic weapons. Got it.

Any municipality could remove any illegal laws banning sales of firearms to citizens under the age of 18. Got it.

Yup, same thing happened in Washington state 25 years ago. Since then there hasn't been a significant republican representation in the state, (governor, US senators).

That King County theft of the Governor’s race should have resulted in both arrests and the overturning of the results.

In theory, yes, although it wouldn’t apply to FedMob laws.

Time to encourage some 2nd A. Sanctuary cities and counties in CO.

If there were only a law on the books that prohibited the shooting of ‘a bunch of students’.

If there were only a national instant (background) check system.
We could call it NICS.

In theory that law will not prevent anyone from getting a gun and walking across the street and shooting a bunch of students.

The difference is, they will get it from the black - market, and there ain’t gonna be no back ground check either—which the whiny gun grabbers are always complaining about the lack there of. SMH

Stupidity is Rampant.

Colorado has been Californiated. Soon the people from Colorado who once lived in a free state will begin to leave.
