Although it is now more than two weeks since the CDC policy on wearing masks has changed, a new function for the masks has been found. Namely that wearing a mask in public helps keep people from thinking that you are a Republican. However, if you really want to make absolutely sure that no one thinks you are a Republican then triple masking is mandatory.

Even more than 2 weeks after the new CDC guidelines, mask worship in Broward County remains almost universal. Broward Meat market on Friday was 100% mask worshippers (except me). Walmart had only two other customers (with whom I joked about the mask worship) sans masks. Aldis had everyone else still worshipping the Mask God.

I told the masked manager at Broward Meat Market that I fully expect to see people still wearing masks there this December.

Today I saw young people wearing a mask at a local fitness center where the “fully vaccinated” are not required to wear a mask though no one is asking about it. I wondered why they would still wear a mask. There are various possibilities. Maybe they are not vaccinated and are very honest. Maybe they don’t want to appear Republican. Maybe they are still extremely fearful. A mask used to be a Biden campaign sign but not necessarily so any more.

I was happy to see that the crowds in the stands at the NCAA lacrosse championship semifinals in Connecticut yesterday showed almost no people wearing a mask.
