1. My mail address is 60 miles from Cleveland Oh
2. Our main PO drive up drop boxes were reduced to ONE from THREE a couple weeks before the election >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yesterday, I got a message from one of our local govt offices to say that they apologized for getting back to me SO late. My correspondence to them (Utility issue) had been sent out on Dec 4. Their mail response to me was post marked from Cleveland Ohio.
Also - yesterday a card was delivered to me -from a local sender ...also with a Cleveland Oh post mark
Is that ODD or not? Does it mean that the mail in ballots got held up because of so few mail drop boxes here ... and then ballots were forwarded to ANOTHER county (60 Miles away) for counting?
That is drop boxes ‘reduced from3 to only ONE
That’s normal, the district plant is where postmarking is usually done. Goes to the plant, gets postmarked then sorted into delivery order, returns to the town the next morning.
I bought something on Ebay on 12/3. Been scanned twice and moved about 45 miles in the twelve days. I hope it gets here before I’m retired.
Not odd. They closed the Canton sorting mail and then later closed Akron. So when I send a card to my Mom across town it now goes to Cleveland and adds a few more days. That is why we took our Absentee ballots to the Stark County board of elections. And such is our new 3rd world system 😡
Yep, we mail from our town, they truck them 60 miles, sort and postmark them and send the local mail back.
You bought you stamps before you sent your mail.
They got what they wanted.
IF you didn’t get what you wanted, please file form twenty six zed niner baker stroke six in triplicate with the office of information retrieval.
It hardly makes sense
6 or 7 years ago they started centralizing processing. Tucson’s mail all goes up to Phoenix to get processed and postmarked. Honestly mail speed is about the same. As for the number of dropboxes was it ever full? Could you ever not put mail in it? If not so what.
I hate when that happens. I hope they find it. Have you tried calling the post office 800 number? They *might* be able to put someone on it after the New Year if it’s not found by then. Alternatively you can request a refund from the seller in another couple of weeks. I know that won’t necessarily help you. eBay is great for finding unique items. I wish you all the best and will say a quick prayer that your item is found again and moved along as it should have been all this time.
Not really. Generally, it's more efficient to sort it at a regional facility. Remember, if you live in a small town, very little of what is mailed from there goes to the same small town.
I guess you’d have to see the drive up situation for the mail boxes ... a ghastly set up was made even worse and at the worst possible time
They assigned removal last year based upon volume, it was re-verified earlier this year twice and mail counts at those locations didn’t justify more than one blue box, so they followed the already existing plan to remove. Considering that most blue boxes can hold close to 12,000 ballots, it’s really not an issue. It’s parcels that fill up blue boxes fast, and make a group of three very attractive to thieves to pry them all open.
Mailed three packages Priority 2-3 day from New Mexico on the 9th. One to Idaho, two to central California. On the 10th, the Idaho package made it to Salt Lake City, UT. On the 12th it was back in Albuquerque. Today is shows as having left Albuquerque. One package to CA just left Albuquerque yesterday evening. The other to CA left Sunday morning and reached Oakland yesterday.
I was about to hope that this was a Cleveland-area phenomenon. I had a 2-Day Priority Mail package take EIGHT days to go 120 miles from Cuyahoga Falls to me. Languished for DAYS in Akron, then DAYS more in Zanesville.
But now you show that it’s a nationwide problem.
Meanwhile stuff shipped to me by Amazon, (at steeply discounted rates!), doesn’t seem to be getting delayed at all. Is the Christmastime Amazon flood choking the whole system? Has USPS management chosen to make the public, despite paying full price postage, sit in the back of the bus?
On Monday I mailed three packages to grandkids in Maine. Gonna check tracking history every day until they get there.
Had a package sent from a major online vendor and dumped off to the USPOS postal debacle system. The package made it 10 miles away, and from there it took another 4 days for the US POS a$$hats to deliver it. Forget about ever using the US POS tracking system as it has never worked for me. Never timely entered to track anything. Eff them hot-damn govey workers!!
Using USPS anymore is becoming a joke.
I received a letter postmarked November 30th and I received it December 11th.
I shipped some priority mail packages with tracking which should have arrived yesterday and still nothing, tracking info says they are still moving in the system and that mail is delayed due to COVID and lack of workers.
I have friends who have mailed rent checks and utility bills locally and their envelopes never made it to their destination. They are hesitant to pay bills online. They prefer the “old” way.
Everybody’s mileage varies. I’m in a fairly high volume mail house. In or out probably half a dozen things a day, not counting junk. More in the holiday season. I get maybe one or two problem items a year. And “problem” for me is generally no more that 2 days late.
I have a friend who sends items from her post office in NY and I can count on one hand the issues she’s had in the past few months. She sends and we and others do not receive and they are not returned to her.
I think there is so much incompetence.
