Why Biden’s Lead Is Safer Than Clinton’s
Slate ^ | June 26, 2020 | William Saletan

Former Vice President Joe Biden is thumping President Donald Trump in the polls. As of Friday, Biden led Trump by 10 percentage points in the RealClearPolitics national average and by six to nine points in each of four key states: Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. But many Democrats refuse to trust these numbers. They feel burned by 2016, when Hillary Clinton lost after leading in the polls for months. They’re afraid Trump will come back again.

That could happen. But it probably won’t, and one reason is that Biden isn’t Clinton. You can argue that public antipathy toward Clinton was sexist, based on lies, or propelled by the media. But that antipathy was a fact, and polls consistently documented it. Now polls are showing something else: On identical questions, posed by the same pollsters at the same stage of the campaign, Biden is doing far better than Clinton did. He’s more broadly liked and less broadly disliked than she was.

This why Biden's poll numbers are so high. You can't not like someone you don't know. And people don't know him because he has been kept hidden.

Eventually, well soon actually, the Dems have to put up a VP candidate. That person, er woman, will have to be more likable than Hillary for the Dems to have a chance.

Biden isn’t Clinton, true. I thought we were incredibly lucky that Hillary spent so little time and effort campaigning. What are the chances that the 2020 global socialism candidate would make the same silly mistake? Turns out - 100%.

These people learned nothing from 2016

Yet the recent riots could help Trump get back in. Law and order.

The DNC will have to find a viable ( in both electability and mortality senses of the word) candidate soon if it wants any chance of winning The presidency or Even retaining The House. Bidden’s a joke

Whoever the VP pick becomes would be slated as the next president, as Biden’s deterioration is manifest

At some point, Biden has to actually campaign. Interviews, rallies, etc.

That’s when he’s toast. He can’t even match his socks.

I hope the DNC is stupid enough to believe what Slate is peddling.

Yes, DNC—you finally found your young articulate charismatic leader you have been waiting for—John F. Kennedy.

Oops—wrong election!

Hillary lost because she thought she was so far ahead that she didn’t need to cheat.

Believe me, the Democrats will pull out all the stops this election

Every battleground state will have vote fraud to benefit Biden.

At some point, Biden has to actually campaign. Interviews, rallies, etc.

The Dem plan is, in part, to stoke virus fears, and use that to promote virtual everything: a virtual convention where Biden accepts in an empty auditorium; virtual debates, where Biden and Trump are in separate studios rather than on the same stage (and Biden has an earpiece feeding him hints and corrections); and most important of all, a virtual voting booth. Mail-ins, ballot harvesting, etc.

Slate.Com was created by the Clinton’s to get their propaganda posted out on the net. I see little has changed.

There was what looked like big vote fraud even in the primary (PA). Clinton didn’t campaign here and thought the election was in the bag. Dem turnout was severely depressed and that’s why Trump won. This time will be different, the mail in vote is vote fraud central.

Every republican will have to personally turn up at the polls. It’s the only shot we have in PA.

I think someone border line Trumpers are very disappointed with what is going on and want it to stop now. People are sick of the Culture Civil War. It shows in these polls. But at the end of the day, Trump is very much what you see is what you get. Put another way, he does what he says, and America First is bad how?

People will see more of Biden and wonder if his elevator gets to the top floor and wonder who will really run the country. All while the Dems pander to the outrage and free stuff for everyone and vote for Trump

Concern is fraud. Estimated at 7-8% in 2016 will be even more with mail in votes this time and that could flip a state that is close.

These polls set the narrative, in that when Trump loses thru theft, of hey can say it was expected as these polls (some bogus) indicated he would lose. Then it is game over

So call your county GOP around Aug 1 and ask how you can volunteer with phones, signs, doorbells etc.

The premise that Biden is less unlikeable than Hillary is true. He represents a real danger and could win.

“You can’t not like someone you don’t know.”

Well I didn’t like Biden when he ran in 1988 and 2008. Why should I like him now?

"These people learned nothing from 2016"

Never underestimate the President. 2016 is a data point to support this. Yet we should never forget how miraculous Trump's victory was. Only 80,000 voters across four states saved us from Hildebeast.
