The coronavirus crisis has forced more than 100,000 small businesses in New York to close permanently, the governor said Friday. The huge swath of closures means main streets will look at lot different when the state is allowed to reopen.
At most risk have been businesses that are owned by minorities, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
"Small businesses are taking a real beating," he said. "They are 90 percent of New York's businesses and they're facing the toughest challengers.

It sounds like Gov. Cuomo absolutely despises minorities.
You know, those once-marvelous, thriving hubs of civilization, now reduced to ruins, overgrown by jungles, buried in desert sand or simply bleaching white in the sun, uninhabited.
Why, I asked myself, did everyone leave when there was ready-made shelter, roads, sanitation etc., and all for free?
Okay, a few of them I can understand - Pompei buried under ash for one. Earthquakes, tsunamis and such made other cities uninhabitable. But there are so many others, relatively undamaged but still abandoned. Why?
Detroit is a warning, you know. Now only a shadow of what it once was, and shrinking evey year. How far will NYC fall, and where is the point of no return (pun intended)?
