Curiously Odd Decision by Judge Sullivan to Hire Beth Wilkinson
RedState ^ | May 24, 2020 | Shipwreckedcrew

...Giving a “one-finger salute” to the filing of the Petition, Judge Sullivan enters an Order setting a briefing schedule for the filing of opposition and reply briefs on the issues before the Court as set forth in the DOJ motion to dismiss, setting a hearing date nearly two months away.

The next morning the Circuit Court of Appeals ORDERS the district judge to personally respond to the Petition for Writ of Mandamus and address the issue of whether he has any discretion on the question of granting the motion to dismiss the case...Judge Sullivan has hired the very experienced and very well-known Washington DC criminal defense attorney Beth Wilkinson to “represent” him in connection with the Circuit Court order, although it remains an open question whether the Circuit Court will accept or hear anything from her on Judge Sullivan’s behalf...Placing Beth Wilkinson — well known and respected by all the Circuit Court Judges — between Judge Sullivan and the three-judge panel of the appeals court seems to me to be an effort to ensure that Judge Sullivan’s response is measured and non-antagonistic — even though he’s likely steaming...It’s very possible she may counsel him to respond with a concession that Circuit authority dictates that dismissal is appropriate, and his only interest in conducting an inquiry is to confirm there are no ulterior motives at work which are being hidden from the Court.

Basically, the argument here is that Wilkinson is going to assist Sullivan in walking back his mistakes.

Wilkinson is needed to communicate with the Obama crew legal minds. Lots of in the park one on one chats... No US mail, phone calls, or internet... Sullivan is going dark... no pun intended. Maybe President Trump can use Obama’s hammer?

I think this is the most likely scenario. Sullivan can’t pick up the phone and call whoever he wants to confer with like, oh I don’t know, maybe Commey, Brennan, Jarret, et al or it could come out. So he hires a connected big shot lawyer who is already representing a bunch of Hillary and Obama clowns with a lot of the people he might want to talk to already in her address book.

A thoroughly stupid article. Beyond stupid.

Having the case taken from Sullivan could “end his career”? He’s a friggin lifetime appointment with absolutely nothing to lose. Cases are randomly assigned to federal judges, as will be his future cases.

Yes, his new lawyer will advise a calm and clever approach. But this approach was decided by the judge’s supporters? Childish.

And I’m SICK of articles that go on for pages repeating the prior history of everything.

Who would need to read the entire history of the Flynn case just to get to the one idea at the end?

The judge hired this lawyer to DEFEND all his decisons and procedures.

The earrings are a little much...

I think the original set had a pair of nose rings to bring a sense of balance to the setting.

But Greg of course melts into a slick pool of inadequacy anytime someone so much as breathes the word "balance" around him.

Yeah, he wants a cooler head and he also wants to thread the needle in some way imo.

Oh boy he can be reprimanded!

Wow

And no he can’t be sent into early retirement.

A mandamus case is normal procedure.

Stop dreaming up bullcrap.

I read that one of his sons raped an underaged girl, and that he somehow got the case “lost” in the legal syestem. So im sure he is quite blackmailable.

Judge Sullivan got his first federal job from Ronald Reagan.

George H.W. Bush promoted him.

The GOP never learns - or cares?

Trump had three District judges approved last week.

Tragically, 21, 23, and 26 Democrat Senators helped to confirm them.

None of those “newbies” will ever be reliable Conservatives.

Wanna bet Judge can’t write a simple motion?

Judge is obsessed with Barack Obama they say in that district Court. He quotes Obama in rulings where it doesn’t even apply.

Me, too.

It’s called padding.

Judge Art Thief needs to send the Stolen Art in his private chambers in his home back to Howard University.

The same Judge in June, 2019 said that Flynn couldn’t fire his Lawyers - the Lawyers from Eric Holder’s law firm.

Someone had to tell him outside Court that he couldn’t do that.

Just like Amy Berman Jackson - these judges thought they were gunning for Trump right out of the gate.
