I think this was the Round of HONG KONG flu. It seemed it wasn’t racist to call it that then. Maybe if they would have cancelled it, more Democrats would have died, and that might have been a good thing. Locking people up seems to increase the risk... and definitely mouth coverings add to the life of a virus. Like putting up a barbed wire fence thinking it will keep out the rats.

There was another big difference between 1969 and now- not as many lawyers around. Back then, lawyers couldn't even advertise. Now, everybody is sue-happy and it makes people skittish about re-opening.

I give up. Who cares what a bunch of draft-dodging, dope smoking hedonists did in 1969?

I had better things to do back then.

I was there. Woodstock rocked! The only problem I had involved the young woman pictured below. She kept chasing after me. I avoided her. And I never did get her name. But I’ve often wondered...what would have happened had we become a couple?

In that era, nothing short of calling out the National Guard would have sufficed to deter 400,000 kids eager for several days of music, drugs, and casual sex in a muddy field with virtually no food, shelter, sanitation, or medical services. Public health and wellness were not among their concerns.

Thanks for that grundle. They should cancel it now and pre date the notice. I was slightly occupied at the time. But algore hadn’t invented the interweb at the time so there is that. :-)

Well, I had recently returned from Vietnam. However, don’t recall having the flu. But, that was a long, long, time ago. Maybe I was one of those asymptotic carriers or something. Was there even such a thing as a flu shot back then?

I (73) have no recollection of said pandemic. I asked my wife (75), but she too knows nothing of it. I guess we were too busy working, and living our lives.

I was fascinated with Woodstock. I have read books and reviewed as many pictures of the festival as I could. Last year some new, never seen ones came to light. You want to know the one stark difference between kids from 1959 and the kids today? Kids today are soft, fat, flabby fast food eating pre diabetic out of shape couch potatoes. It’s no wonder they get sick when anyone sneezes. Most of the attendees in 69 where thin and muscular with very low BMI numbers. They played outside. They worked outside. They loved being outside where the germs play.

I know it is pure “anecdotal” and the people telling us about the doom and death from Covid hate Anecdotal.... But sometime things are what they are and you don’t need a PHD in science to know who nature works.
