I’ve been banned at three sites for my posts on this subject. At two of them I had been a member for over a decade.
And to be clear, in none of those cases was I accused of breaking the rules. They just didn’t like what I was saying and thought my posts could cause people to be reckless with their health.
Dead serious.

It’s pretty obvious that a large segment of our elites view Chinese-style authoritarianism as the ideal form of government.

This interesting take on the First Amendment was the latest in a line of Lets rethink that whole democracy thing pieces that began sprouting up in earnest four years ago. Articles with headlines like Democracies end when they become too democratic and Too much of a good thing: why we need less democracy became common after two events in particular: Donald Trumps victory in the the Republican primary race, and the decision by British voters to opt out of the EU, i.e. Brexit.
Democracies will always take one of three routes: Dictatorship (tyranny), Oligarchy (tyranny), or anarchy.
There's a reason we were founded as a Republic, and why the US Constitution specifically guarantees each State a Republican form of government.
