Perhaps the next time I go to Costco I need to get another multipack of bacon. One counterforce is the collapse of meat demand from restaurants.

We’re going to forced away from having meat in our diets with more carbs. Not good.

The shortages are going to start sooner if they keep advertising it.

People are going to start panic buying again.

Might want to do that sooner rather than later.

We made a trip to SAMS this week and the meat counter was basically empty. Hubby said he could have put everything that was out (other than the fake meat stuff) in one buggy.

Here we go,

Toilet paper all over again.

Now everyone runs out and stocks up on meat and guess what, the store shelves really do go empty then.

People are the cattle.

It’s not too late to panic!

Get in early on this one. If you felt left out of the TP crisis, you can be on the leading edge this time!

"more than 621 million pounds"

There's 320 million Americans. Why is this not at least 6.4 billion pounds?

Americans could start to see shortages....

Notice these articles never say WILL start to see. I'm tired of the BS "may", "might", "could", "potentially" headlines everywhere - as if that is news.

I bought a lb. today and will stick it in the freezer. Tomorrow I will do the same. Just don’t want to deprive someone else. One at a time seems right.

We live in ranching country, we can buy it on the hoof and butcher it if need be.

I have already suggested sending someone with a trailer to Iowa or wherever to buy finished pigs and doing the same, it is legal to cut up your own meat still.

Please don’t make this come to a decision between bacon and Coronavirus...

The freezer warehouses are full of meat - several cold storage facilities are out of room and are trying to fill up the grocery stores.

Another panic story from someone who is not connected with the Industry.

You should read the comments at Politico.

Hilarious if not so idiotic. For example...

We shouldn’t be murdering animals in the first place.

Meat production is ludicrously unsustainable anyway, and the current generation is walking away from it the same way they’re abandoning dairy, tobacco, guns, retail stores, conservatism and religion.

but for the cause being the result of a pandemic, most public health officials would welcome such an outcome. a greater reliance on plant-based protein can only benefit the vast majority of Americans

Actually, it’s chicken. Publix is stocked with pork and beef packaged meat, but the chicken coolers are empty - gotta buy the frozen stuff...

Some of us will become invegs (involuntary vegans). I draw the line at becoming a soyboy though. Peanut butter is what I’ll live on I guess.

I was at Walmart the other day and there was plenty of bacon and one double pack was on sale for $3.39 and also pork rolls around the same price. But I guess that will change.
