Let me say this just as plainly as I can if you are buying up large quantities of toilet paper and hand sanitizer to sell at ten times what you paid for it to people suffering from the coronavirus, you are a miserable human being. And if you are filling your carts with far more than what the actual needs of you and your family are, you are only slightly less disgusting. This is shameful behavior for any American to display, but for someone who calls themselves a Christian to hoard and stockpile beyond your needs? Repent, hoarder, repent.
When you stockpile and hoard in a time of crisis, you are doing two things. One, you are depriving others from getting what they need so you can have ten times what you need, and you are showing how much you really dont trust in the Lord. Two, buying 100 bottles of hand sanitizer to sell at sky-high prices to people who desperately need it is not capitalism, it is greed and gluttony. This is not being a prepper, and this is not about being prepared, it is immoral and wrong.
If this coronavirus outbreak is a test, any kind of a test on any level, we have all failed miserably.

human scum trying to make an immoral profit off of the fear, illness, and health of their fellow citizens ... nothing lower than those evil con men and women except for those who defraud the elderly ...
There are businesses who buy out inventory of businesses that go bankrupt. They pay a fraction of the original price, and sell the stuff at a profit.
This guy gets no sympathy from me. Let him find someone who will buy the stuff and accept whatever he is offered.
“we have all failed miserably.”
What do you mean, “ALL”?
>>>Went to Walmart last week and got 50 lb of dog food. At the checkout line I realized I was the only one without toilet paper in the cart. No problem<<<
You mean it doesn’t hurt when you use it? Are you Chuck Norris?
And yet there are the libertarian zealots even on this forum who are saying there’s nothing wrong with this behavior because market forces will take care of the pricing spikes. This isn’t a economics issue - it’s about being a decent human being in a time of crisis.
If the best you can think to do at such a time is to staunchly defend the merits of supply and demand curves, you need help.
Smart businessmen solve problems. They address a shortage. This Matt Colvin guy is different. He is creating problems. He is causing the shortage.
Hoarding was a serious crime during WWII.
Well they are not so Fuhgetaboutit
PS; Craigslist will allow you to sell your dead parent
The hoarders are conditioned by their reaction to hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, and floods. These disasters interrupt the supply chains of truck and trains from producers to consumers and result in uncertainty if goods will be available in the future.
With the health crisis there is no current risk to any of the supply chains so it is irrational to hoard goods when a new shipment will be in the stores tomorrow. If millions of truckers get sick this could change but that’s very unlikely at this point.
What amazes me is that they are also hoarding beef and chicken along with other perishable vegetables like bell peppers and potatoes.
People, let me be clear, barbecue does not cure COVID-19!
Call it whatever the hell you want.
He isnt owed a spot on Amazon or Ebay to sell it. People are rightfully appalled at this, and he is the idiot that allowed his story to go out to the press.
He can now do his “smart business” by opening up a folding table in his driveway and selling it for as much as he wants.
If people wouldn’t have panicked, this guy wouldn’t have been able to capitalize. Calm down already.
My Mom is 93 years old and has seen a thing or two. She says she has never seen anything this crazy except for how nuts everyone was prior to Y2K.
What the hoarders should realize, in our society, if things get bad enough for them to seriously profit off their hoard, then they don’t have anywhere near to fire power to keep themselves alive, let alone in possession of their stuff.
In some times and places, such people were hung.
And then given a fair trial, of course.
they’ll always be ghouls
God bless your 93 year old mother! It’s so cool to hear a wise nonagenarian comment on our crazy world, with common sense and experience.
I still do not understand the toilet paper connection. Are the treasonists claiming that the coronahoaxvirus aka the flu gives one dysentery as well?
Am I wrong to say the US Crisis reaction so far looks like Socialism by Marx, in spades? Unnerving to hear Pelosi and Bernie pushing the envelope, but only to set the base line that we have now produced, for getting us well on the road to... Each according to his Needs.
“People, let me be clear, barbecue does not cure COVID-19!”
Perhaps not. But it sure makes life more enjoyable while waiting for the world to end.
