Even the left now admits that Obamacare failed. The former Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary who helped oversee implementation of the disastrous Obamacare law just argued that “27-28 million” Americans have no health insurance. And that’s about 10 years after the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” was enacted in 2010.

Wasn’t there only about 16 million without insurance before Obamacare?

About the same # they complained about prior.

Obama and the Left totally handicapped US healthcare.

If only they’d be concerned about a lack of any delegated power in light of the 10thAmendment instead.

not everybody wants or needs medical insurance
although i would definitely wish to have it, I would pay for it and not expect my neighbors to pay for it

i did not have medical insurance for 22 years of my life, and i am still vertical just fine, thank you

it is up to each person what doctors or nurses or hospitals or surgeons s/he wishes, or does not wish

it is not the federal government’s job NOR is this a power that is constitutionally delegated to the fed govt.

(if a state wishes to institute something as the general sovereign, then that’s a different discussion)

That is kind of like when Joe Bidened sponsored the gun free zone legislation. 30 years later, shootings have gone nearly 3 times.

the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” was enacted in 2010.

What's never mentioned is Obamacare didn't go "live" until 2014 - it was all "take" for the 1st 4 years or so.

Did you get any money back from the IRS come tax time? Cause if so, they supposedly took it out of your refund automatically. But if you owed $$, you didn't have to pay it, as they had no other enforcement mechanism in the law.

My brother still had insurance, but had to pay 3 times more for it like every other young male, as part of the massive transfer of wealth from the young to the old that Obamacare represented. Others in his situation made the understandable decision to go uninsured. I fortunately had employer-provided insurance at the time.

argued that "27-28 million" Americans have no health insurance

How many of those alleged 27-28 million are United States citizens, and how many are criminals here illegally because of the malicious globalist left?

I got money back and they never took out anything. I’m religious on my bank account and never do direct deposit etc. I dont want the govt having access to my money.

That's surprising. But hey, lucky you!
But skipping direct deposit has nothing to do with the government. All that is is literally your job sending the check to the bank, instead of giving you a hard copy to take to your bank. The government already has access to your money through wage garnishment if you owe child support or back taxes or something. That will hit when your employer calculates your pay for the pay period, and anything that gets taken out, comes out before the check is even cut. It'd be the same as all the other taxes they already take out of your paycheck.

The only way to actually get the gov out of your income is if you have an employer who's willing to skip the government requirements. But cash, hard check, or direct deposit, it's basically all the same as far as the government is concerned.

That 27-28 million can be broken down into separate categories.

Abut 8 million who currently qualify for Medicaid but are too proud to apply for it. Social workers are tearing their hair out trying to figure out how to convince these people to not be so proud. The single biggest group of these is the poor of Mexican ancestry.

About 6 million who make too much money to qualify for the ACA and have health insurance opportunity in work and choose to not take health insurance. Mostly these are the young and healthy with good lifestyles who are expected to subsidize the bad lifestyle of others.

About 5 or 6 million are those who qualify for the ACA but choose not to use it. Is that choice due to pride? Due to thinking they have better places to put their money? Both?

How many million are short term? They have found a better job and are moving up the ladder. But they are uncovered during the transition to the better job? Remember: For every 5 or 6y new employees, somebody is promoted to team lead. For every 20 or 25 new employees, some body is promoted to Supervisor or manager. For every 75 or 80 new employees some body is promoted to director.

One of the untold stories of the Trump era is the upward mobility and the new employees push existing employees up the ladder.
