When you read descriptions of hell, it's a place where God is absent. He does not stop anything occurring there, nothing bad is prevented or stopped from happening. There is no healing. There is no release from torment and pain.
People do not realize just exactly how much God prevents bad things from hitting us and not stopping, or not recovering from them, in this world. Because the physical world is fallen and broken, the natural laws have things wearing out and breaking down, we age, our bodies will wear out and cease to work. We do have bad things happen to us here but certainly not all the time, back to back, no rest or recovery from them. We are not continuously under devastating attacks and can't have peace, happiness, contentment, love, etc. No one has a problem free life, but we have usually periods of time of decent things and smatterings of various levels of problems.
Contrast this life with God in it watching out for us, and in many cases, bringing healing, strengthening, relief, joy, and peace to varying degrees, versus hell, a place of none of this. But hell is a place God isn't. Hell is contained by God, but God isn't there wathcing out for anyone or helping them or minimizing their suffering. These are people who didn't want God in their life and thought their lives would be better off without Him. they thought he wasn't doing anything for them when they were alive, but He actually did quite a bit. The saved and unsaved both receive blessings and problems while on earth.
If an athiest sat and thought about what life would really be like in a world without God, the logical end is it would look like what Hell has been described as.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good.
“When you read descriptions of hell, it’s a place where God is absent.”
You mean the Democrat Party HQ?
Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for. 8>)
Satanist believe in God And Hell
Atheists believe in neither.
I believe CS Lewis said that God loves us all so much that he even created a place where He is absent — just for those people who like it that way.
There was a religous(?) book where the guy took Scripture and tried to show how there is no Hell. As God IS omnipresent. So Hell can’t be the absence of God.
He took verses such as where people died from looking at God in the O.T. and came up with the idea that the unsaved will be in the presence of God, but God’s light will not be a good thing. Instead, it will be shining on their sins and causing the person deathly shame and pain. But whereas while on earth the person would die - now they have to deal with it for eternity.
Like having a dad point out every hour of every day to their son about the time he spilled paint on the garage floor. Times 10 million.
I don’t know how accurate it is, but perhaps?
Life's journey since then hasn't always been easy but many miracles in my life have happened that reinforces my faith everyday.
I may be the only Atheist on FR, and I certainly don’t want that. Just because I am not a believer doesn’t mean that I think God doesn’t have a place on Earth. When you hear of Atheists in the news, you hear of those who are loud, obnoxious, and extremely hateful. Most are like me, and don’t hate; we just don’t believe.
I have spent a lot of time around a lot of the faithful, including my own family. I was on dialysis in my twenties, and I saw how faith kept people strong and helped them persevere. I also know that religious organizations do many good things, like feeling the hungry, providing shelter and clothing to those in need, and providing counselling and resources to unwed mothers who were careless or who were raped, and aren’t sure where to turn. (I’m not pro-choice, with the exception of medical issues making the matter life and death.)
It disheartens me to see posts like this, but I understand where it comes from. I even made an attempt to remind a very prominent “Atheist” organization that they don’t speak for all Atheists everywhere, and they were very, very rude in response. I saved the emails. Maybe I’ll post them here in their entirety someday.

Yep. Thanks, auto-correct.
He’s in the trash with all the American flags.
Like the old saying, for those going to Heaven, life on Earth is the closest they will get to experiencing Hell. For the others, this is as close as they’ll get to experiencing Heaven.
Watch Stephen C. Meyer videos, and you will change your mind, if it’s open to Truth. Sorry, FRiend, a single cell, let alone a brain did not and cannot “evolve”.
Of course, you are free to believe as you wish, and ignore all evidence to the contrary.
Where?
From Wikipedia:
Stephen C. Meyer is an American advocate of the pseudoscientific principle of intelligent design.
From what Ive seen, most atheists seem to hold their belief in response to a desire that is primary, and secondarily they try to justify it rationally.
But if one claims they thought about it carefully and thoroughly before choosing atheism, he will have to hold the logically incoherent belief that nothing created everything.
I would say ‘God bless you,’ but that would be trite and flip.
Rather, I applaud your balanced approach to life in a world where people legitimately have differing views.
‘I may be the only Atheist on FR’
you aren’t; but I consider myself agnostic; neither I, nor anybody else, can either prove or disprove the existence of deities. Thus, no one can really ‘know’ the truth of the matter, it is a case of ‘a gnossis’ Greek for ‘not knowledge’...
‘It disheartens me to see posts like this’
doesn’t bother me at all; as long as no one stops me from speaking my mind...

Contrary to the article, God is in Hell too.
He is everywhere.
