The void: Imprint of another universe? 24 November 2007 Marcus Chown Magazine issue 2631 IN AUGUST, radio astronomers announced that they had found an enormous hole in the universe. Nearly a billion light years across, the void lies in the constellation Eridanus and has far fewer stars, gas and galaxies than usual. It is bigger than anyone imagined possible and is beyond the present understanding of cosmology. What could cause such a gaping hole? One team of physicists has a breathtaking explanation: "It is the unmistakable imprint of another universe beyond the edge of our own," says Laura Mersini-Houghton of...

PHILADELPHIA -- Religion and science can combine to create some thorny questions: Does God exist outside the human mind, or is God a creation of our brains? Why do we have faith in things that we cannot prove, whether it's the afterlife or UFOs? Legendary singer Tony Bennett has slammed his home country of America for not contributing anything other than jazz music to world art and culture. The If I Ruled The World crooner feels that Europe and Asia offer far more culturally than America does. Bennett says, "I have travelled around the world to Asia and Europe. They show you what they have contributed to the world. The British show you theatre, the Italians show you music and art, the French show you cooking and painting, and the Germans show you science. "The only thing that the United States, which is still...

MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2005) -- After a worried college student found his mother was in harm's way during a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq, he contemplates the situation he chose to ignore and focuses his thoughts on joining the Marine Corps. Pvt. Phillip M. Oesterblad, Platoon 2130, Company E, grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and never had any thoughts of joining the military while in high school. After attending college in Alaska and Arizona, he realized that he did not know enough about America's role in the situation in Iraq. "While I was in...

A lawyer who wants the Mount Soledad cross off public land in La Jolla filed a lawsuit yesterday to try to invalidate the July 26 election in which San Diego voters will weigh in on the contentious issue. Attorney James McElroy wants a Superior Court judge to intervene as soon as possible. His lawsuit won't affect the mayoral election set for the same day. City Attorney Michael Aguirre said the election on Proposition A should proceed, and a lawyer working to keep the cross in place as a war memorial called McElroy's challenge "frivolous." Superior Court Judge Patricia Cowett, who...

Last month Kerry posed for a photo op waving around a shotgun -- with his finger on the trigger. Last week there was Kerry at another photo op with a shotgun. This time the hypocrite was holding a type of weapon he wants to ban (S. 1431). Lurch would have us believe he favors the Second Amendment, but that is just another political lie. Fact is, we have Kerry's 20 year voting record in the Senate and that shows two interesting things: Kerry votes 100% socialist and he has voted to violate the Second Amendment to the Constitution every single...

Two of the three documents/articles below were prepared within The Vatican. The first document/article focuses on the present day China's persecution of the Roman Catholic Church in China ( commonly referred to as China's "underground Catholic Church"). The second document/article quotes Cardinal Etchegaray, retired president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He has frequently served as the Pope's diplomatic envoy. On 03 October 2003, he publicly denied the existence of a divide between the underground and Chinese government-recognized 'patriotic' Catholic Church. "There is only one Church with two faces," he said. "There is not one 'patriotic' Church and...

Reprinted from NewsMax.com Lott and the DachshundsRalph R. ReilandSunday, Dec. 29, 2002 What's dumb about Trent Lott is that he should have known how tricky it is to talk about race in America. Excuse the pun, but the top dog in the Senate should have known that we're at the point where you can't even say that dachshunds aren't so good with kids without being called a racist. Remember when the fur hit the fan a few years back when the American Kennel Club said in its best-selling "The Complete Dog Book" that some breeds were better with young children...

Do we need any more evidence that corruption is the norm, not the exception in, not just the FBI, but all government? I just finished reading a news story about the FBI trying to prevent the investigation of the shooting of an innocent person by an FBI agent. The number of instances of "mistakes" made by government officials that are covered up, defended and lied about are too numerous to list. "Mistakes" that would put you or I away for a long time are not even punished if a government official commits them. From Bill Clinton all the way down...
