Just a side point. Comments on Twitter do not orders make.
I hope the President had already given the order prior to posting on Twitter.
So you trying to argue that the CIC has to communicate it a certain way?
Did you ever serve?
Exactly. While I agree with PT, Gateway Pundit is wrong, PT ordered no such thing. Also, to some others here, he did not pardon Gallager, he gave him his rank back. The finding against Gallager regarding taking a photo with a body still stands.
I don't think that admiral needs another "order", because if he continues on his current path, he will find out about the job market with the beltway bandits {which is still very good}.
Any admiral with decent contacts would start in the mid six figures with bonus options that could push it to seven figures.
Ya gotta remember, a retired admiral can pick up his phone and talk with his admiral pals that are still on active duty, and get face to face meetings, etc.
When I was in Marine Corps boot camp one of the things we were told is that we were to treat a comment made by an officer as an order. So if a Captain makes an offhand remark about a Jeep needing a wash, we were to take that as an order to wash the Jeep. Same thing here. President Trump has said on Twitter the Chief keeps his Trident. That Rear Admiral damn well knows that the Chief keeps his Trident, even in the absence of a formal order.
An order on Twitter is still an order according to Article 92 of the UCMJ.
For an order to be valid it has to be ‘properly published’ and a post on Twitter would pass muster as a properly published (meaning it’s on the record) order.
Go ahead and make the case that ignoring it will enhance your career...if you can.
So if you were his attorney, would you advise him to ignore the tweet? Or would you advise him to drop it and get back to work..
If he refuses to view that tweet as an order, my guess is that he will be out of the navy before Thanksgiving.
