Climate science has died. The effects will be big.
Watts Up With That ^ | Nov 18, 2019 | Charles Rotter

Posted on 11/18/2019 2:52:35 PM PST by Rocky

Summary: Let’s hit “pause” in the climate wars and see how we got here, where we are going, and what we can learn from this mess.

“I can’t use this result. It doesn’t support the narrative.“

At the time I thought this statement was daft. Now I see that she was spot on, but not in the way she meant it. And with results that she did not intend.

(snip)

But the damage to climate science is effectively forever. Generations of scientists have learned that success is political, and I believe the resulting long slide of research quality has just begun. Only great effort over long periods of time will reverse that. I doubt we will start in the foreseeable future. We might pay much for our folly when past extreme weather comes again.

The perfect storm of selfish motives in some, faulty ideology (such as socialism - more government control is always better) in others, and a desire in others to be important by "saving the world," have created a juggernaut. No amount of rational thought can stop it. Like lemmings, the "scientists," journalists, politicians, leftists, and crusaders (not mutually exclusive) are determined to drive western civilization over the cliff.

The loss of all that hot air could cause global cooling.

Died?

No.

Gone into seclusion — for a while, maybe. But they will be back when they hone their message and have a newer audience.

“Scientists” with bad incentives do crappy research then reporters who can’t do basic math breathlessly report on transparently faulty research...

Global cooling would destroy civilization because a Ice Age, Major or Minor would cut food production 75% to 85%. Better hope for Global Warming, at least you can grow food in many climates but not a Cold Climate.

To compensate for that, all they have to do is give more cows beer to drink (like this guy is doing).

Now we’ll never know when we’re dying from global warming although I know they freeze in Chicago because of it.

Anyone who thinks man-made climate change is dead is an ass.

Among conservatives, it was always dead. I see nobody else converted.

Travel the world....every nation’s leaders talk about man-made climate change and reducing CO2 while ending the use of hydrocarbons.

Sorry, we are not winning this battle in any way....just in the minds of the choir.

Global warming, cooling, change, chaos, whatever was never about concern for the planet. It was not even about removing market driven economy in favor of feudalism. That was just a happy side effect.

The real motive was to train people to believe in impossibilities. Once you have trained children to believe six impossible things before breakfast they will lose the ability to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. Once that happens you can tell them anything and they will believe it. Sadly it works with older people as well. I have heard a great deal of provable nonsense spouted by people who should know better.

People no longer stop and think, "come on, is this really likely? Does this even sound reasonable when I say it out loud?"

As long as the U.S. is seen as loaded with wealth, and the less developed countries desire some of that wealth, then, climate change will remain an issue.

There never was a practical discipline of “climate science”. Most of their data collection was skewed, the hypotheses proposed placed entirely much too much weight on a relatively insignificant factor, and the effects of that factor were wildly inflated.

Carbon dioxide cannot possibly be the major vector in any plausible explanation of climate fluctuations. Water vapor alone has some thirty to a hundred or more times the influence on climate that could ever possibly be attributed to carbon dioxide, and water vapor has capabilities that carbon dioxide could not remotely replicate under conditions that exist in earth’s atmosphere. There is no way to completely eliminate all carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and maintain that scrubbed condition. Carbon dioxide will regenerate up to an optimum range, regardless of the efforts of mankind. Any excess carbon dioxide generated will be greedily taken up by living growing plant life.

Climate can and does change, mostly relatively slowly, but at such rate of change that most living creatures can and have adapted over the millennia during which there has been life established on this planet.

The article doesn’t say climate change is dead. It says climate science is dead because of the people pushing a political cause at the expense of science.

Of course, you are right. But that doesn't stop the propaganda.

“Sorry, we are not winning this battle in any way....just in the minds of the choir.”

The level of propaganda is disheartening but facts are stubborn things and the truth will come out in the next 10 years or so.
