Trump threatens to OBLITERATE Turkey’s economy if it does ‘anything off limits’

He then told Ankara to “watch over” ISIS fighters in the US’ absence. “If Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!)” the president threatened via tweet on Monday – an odd turn of phrase for what otherwise seemed like a dire warning to a supposed ally.

"Donald Trump vowed to “obliterate” the Turkish economy if he thinks it’s stepped out of line in Syria"

Is this a bad thing?

Erdogan wants a Muslim Caliphate, with himself as caliph. OK. Let him consolidate one, on the Russian border. Putin will love that...

Turkey is NOT an ally.

Neither are a lot of our other so-called “allies”.

I don’t think it was tongue in cheek at all. They put pressure on Turkey to get that pastor released, and it worked. I hope Turkey understands that if they mess with the president, they’ll have to face the consequences.

At some point soon, it will be Freedom against Islam. The unlikely alliance of USA, Russia, Israel and China against the rest of the world.

Trump detractors are all wet again.

Lindsey doesn’t understand what an economic MOAB looks like.

Excellent. I now have no problem withdrawing direct support for the Kurds.

Happy to get our troops out of there.

Excellent.

He shouldn’t have drawn that red line. But be left himself an out since he made himself clear that he is the one who decides whether turkey has gone too far.

If Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom,...

I wish he'd left off the boast. Just additional fodder for the media to raise questions about his stability.

I’ll spot Kristol a Mosin rifle and 500 rounds. He can buy his own plane ticket.

This is parallel to another so-called ally (Pakistan) that is being ushered back into Afghanistan as we make an exit there. It so happens that Pakistan and Turkey are also close non-Arab Islamic friends.

Our designation of allies needs some serious re-evaluation.
