A dear friend’s son is in the hospital with symptoms that present as meningitis, but no viral or bacterial pathogens have been detected even after a bunch of blood work. Prognosis is indeterminate (doctor speak for bad). His name is Michael R. (Sorry, cannot give full name for various reasons, but sure God will know who he is.)
Please pray for him.

Hate to piggy back but my sister Sandy needs them too. She had rheumatoid arthritis for years but got along pretty well with it plus other health problems. Last Saturday she fell and had me call an ambulance. Long story short, her kidneys shut down and she’s been on dialysis for 3 days but it doesn’t seem to be working. Tomorrow I have to decide to end it or keep her in agony.
Yay! God is great! Let prayer be the key of your morning and the latch of your evening! Prayer really works!
May God bless his child, Sandy, and restore her to full health.

Just as an aside, indeterminate is not “bad.” Doctor’s status words are exact, and deliberate. It generally means, “we don’t know.”
They are used to dealing with families and friends who “need to know” the answer. If you are authorized to get a condition report, they don’t lie or avoid bad news.

Praying that they will find out the real cause of his disease and will provide appropriate treatment and he will recover fully.
Did they test him for Epstein Barr virus? Many times they don’t test for that, but it could be a possibility.
The treatment is Human Immune Globulin (IVIG) administered intravenously, but that should not be a problem in a hospital. There is also SCIG, subcutenous immune globulin, which is easier to administer, and the patient can learn it and do it, after he is released from the hospital.
If possible, have an infectious disease specialist see him. They may be more open and knowledgeable about possibilities.

If dialysis didn’t seem to be working after 3 days, couldn’t they increase whatever they are doing, to see maybe that would help?
I would at least try something, before giving up.
I can understand that when there is no hope we have to let people go. But I think you need to make sure that truly there isn’t any real help possible.
