Its officially summer as of 11:54 a.m. ET today.
Ive reached an age where I no longer take this lightly as the road isnt as long as it once seemed.
So I follow the advice of the world weary and who among us cant be counted in that camp these days get out there and enjoy this glorious season to the hilt. The long days,
hot nights
and farm fresh produce.
Its strawberry season (finally) here! That means shortcake. And jam.
Wishing everyone an endless summer with a little less rain than normal.
Carpe Diem! Now get out there and leave your paw prints on the beach.

That was a beautiful post.
thank you!
You are 2 hours south of me and you have “summer”?
Dude, my furnace was on this morning when I woke up!
The Saginaw Bay area is still waiting for summer to show up...
We’re losing our country.
Used to have 3 favorite seasons. Fall, Winter, Spring. Never summer. Hot sticky Northeast summers. Now Winter is on my dislike list too. The cold never bothered me. But with age now it does.
I can always find a warm spot in Winter but there quickly comes a point when taking more clothes off does not good and isn’t an option.
Texas and Oklahoma Summers are brutal and the older I get the worse they get. When the OAT reaches body temperature I’m done and it is time to go in, shutter the windows, hit my favorite chair with a glass of iced tea and read myself to sleep or watch youtube documentaries.
Today is mowing day and the high is a mild 94 with 60% humidity. It is already 80 degrees outside. Better get an early start.
Been there (back when you could just walk up to the thing and sit on one of the stones if you wanted to) done that.
I've been back in NJ for a week. Maybe this is really Seattle? Whatever, it's cool and rainy. So I'll be easing into the weekend at my cigar club.
ML/NJ
I HATE the summer. Old or not. I like cold weather, not frying like an egg.
Great post!
I absolutely love summer.
I love seeing green everywhere, walking barefoot outside, seeing my kids biking past with bats and gloves or fishing poles and tackle boxes, hearing my kids laugh and play outside, breathing in sweet air that doesnt freeze the lungs, eating supper while its still light outside, working in my garden, and everything else that goes with warm weather.
My plan was to permanently head south after college, met my winter loving husband instead. So now I just embrace summer while trying not to be sad over how short it is.
Yes! I love summer too, and youre right. They get even more precious as we begin to sense that theres fewer of them ahead of us. Every moment of summer should be savored!
Good news! We still have our country!
Have a wonderful summer!
Yeah! Time to hit the beach!! happy, happy, happy!!!!
Thank-you for the wonderful posting.
A time when things slow down.
First day of Summer,,,
Overcast and Drizzle
in San Diego.
Love It!
Woohoo! Summer’s here! Now if it would just stop raining. We barely got spring here in New England.
My cousin lives in northern MN. He always says, “It’s NOT true we don’t have summer. We do. And if it falls on a weekend, we might have a picnic!”
Summer? Temps just dropped into the low 60s here, with a miserable drizzle!
Just remember:
To carpe diem, you must carpe ductum...or drive into town and buy the right stuff, wasting your diem!
